The BM 2.5TD lump in the Qmega was detuned over the normal BM power (143 down to 131 bhp from memory).
My question is this, was this done by purely different Mapping in the Eprom of the ECU or was some other bits de tunned / downgraded.

Purely EPROM

Yup, and it was down to 120bhp...

Thanks Mark, TB, hoping thats what you were going to say.
Were currently playing arround with my old 325 TDSE for some track fun, nearly up to 200 bhp, think you know what Im thinking. :y

hmmm we may have a slightly smaller smaller turbo on the omega!!! certainly its mounted differently! who is capable of checking?
we have the same turbo as the shogun and a couple of others
also we have a much smaller intercooler!!!

Ok, that would sort of make sense, think they also did that on the Freelander.
Will try and look into it. :y

OK, thinking out loud now, Intercoolers not a problem upgrade that and maybe run the engine a few degrees lower. If the Turbo is under spec then upgrade it and adjust the boost presure to normal BM or slightly above, question is I'am I going to through a load of faults codes on the Mig in the process?

If you change the turbo / up the boost pressure (you could do this with just a wastegate bypass valve) without remapping the ECU the MAP readings will be too high and the ECU will probably just cut the fueling to the engine out to save it from going bang (at least thats what happened when I tried that on my old rover 2.0TD). Dont know how the miggy ECU would behave but imagine it would be simlar. Bigger intercooler and remap sounds good though :y

LOL, not required on the BMW heap ;). It has a very barbaric mechnical wastegate, easily adjusted.

As far as I know the main difference between the BM 325 TD (118bhp) and the 325 TDS/e (143bhp) was an Intercooler and a bigger Turbo. So did the Omega end up with the same Turbo as the standard BM?

Omega gets the M51 TDS engine, with intercooler
