« on: 13 October 2009, 23:27:36 »

Did a motorway run in the astra today.

170 miles, keeping to all speed limits. few traffic jams.

Got back - over 35mpg on gas  ;D So equivilent to more than 70mpg cost wise  8-)

Shame I have obviously forgotton how to park....  :-[ for the first time in my life, I clobbered something in a car park.

does anyone have a rear offside door in blue?  ;D

That's not too shabby.

Then again, was it making up for that by drinking oil? ::)

Not a really long test, but strangely didn't seem to  use a drop, at lower revs.

I disconnected a breather pipe temporarily, and it didn't seem to smoke after idle.

Points to a wierd breather issue perhaps. Funny though, all the ones I touched seemed clear....

I knew it, well sort of. Too much of a coincednce to get similar oil levels/issues in all four pots.
Worth some cata clean in the petrol tank maybe? Cats probably a bit oily? Worth leaving the breather off for a while to let it clear up or burn off excess.

Is it worth getting the dealer to print you off a diag.of the breathes system? Might be something missing or rooted wrongly?

Hmmm, oil being forced up the breathers then, maybe. Is it worth another compression test once the oil has cleared?
