I've lived abroad for more than 2 years a couple of times, and a call to the insurers when I got back to explain the circumstances sorted the NCB quickly and without hassle both times.  :y

Relatively inexpensive insurance quotes above.

Being an old bastard can be a good thing at times. :)

Can't wait until I'm 34 and can get cheap insurance!  :y                                                      ;D
After you reach a 'certain age', they hammer you again.

By the time I get to that stage they'll probably be routinely euthanising people of a 'certain age' so I won't have to worry about my car insurance.  :-\  ::)  ;D

Get this on one of our dev boxes in work, keeps running out of disk space, obviously priority is the live system for network guys, we just break the dev server all the time!

My daily is a Vivaro minibus.
As the sun was out and it was quite warm, opened the drivers window all the way for the drive home.
Got home and the window motor has packed up
3 hours with it tonight and as its a stupid french design, cant get the window off the mech to push it up for the night
Taped the window hole up as its going to thunder storm here in the early hours

Thanks all - that gives me some pointers.

On the NCD - I had 30 years claims free........

I have just renewed my insurance in NZ - will have to offer the renewal letter and see if that gains me anything.

Who/where/what insurance providers do people use?

I haven't needed to buy insurance in the UK for a few years so completely out of touch with which ones are good / expensive / useless etc.
Unfortunately that probably means your previous NCB (no claims bonus) may NOT be accepted by UK insurers  :(
Most only allow 1 or 2 years gap

From memory, the Omega only did lock-up in 3rd and 4th.
Omega B & B2 AR25/AR35 the lockup is in 3rd and fourth. Carlton and Senator B it's only 4th.

The lockup operating (or not) on an autobox is much more apparent if the cruise control is engaged.

Or accelerate to 60-70Mph on an open level(ish) Motorway and hold the the throttle pedal constant and observe the rev counter. You'll see the revs drop to about 2200-2300 when the lock engages. If the sport mode is engaged then the transmission will take longer to engage the lockup.
