Do the 'paper clip test' and see why the managment light is on & go from there!  :y

The EGR is on the top left of your engine  as you stand at the front of the car. It is about two inches high and has a plug in connector for the wiring. First step is to make sure that is connected securely.

If you do a search on the forum you may find a picture of an engine. A haynes manual would also be a good buy for general info.

Never having done this before I checked it a couple of times and it seems to be the only code before repeating the sequence. Cheers. The guy is sending me the Haynes manual as I forgot to pick it up when I bought it.
So the EGR is that little pot looking gizmo?

What is the EGR valve and what can happen when it fails?

Not sure the damage elements of that article are valid, its seems to be purely emmisions

That suits me :y  When I read the article I thought "Ooer, don't like the sound of that".
My spare inlet manifold and throttle body is getting the Gunk and Mr Muscle clean up treatment this afternoon. As you previously suggested, my EGR is just not doing it's thing.

Hi again.
Its stopped raining. Did the test again and it still shows 1 3 2 as the only code. So how do I change the EGR? is it a simple job and will something need re-prgramming afterwards? Looks like a big torx is required and a big spanner?
Cheers

Remove the EGR vale and cut a coke can up to match the metal gasket.

Sandwich this inbetween the valve and the gasket and re-fit.

I've noticed another "sympton". Managed to start the car tonight, (needed to move it out of the way of my garage door) it ran extremely lumpy and smoked a bit but also the brakes felt as if they were not being servo assisted etc. Could this all be connected to the faulty EGR? (merc boy I've messaged you)
