It is the colour display you have, not the mono one?

I seem to recall there is a setting somewhere, have you done the obvious and read the manual?

Does it have the extra RGB cable connected?

i think so.there are only 3 cables to connect, the main power, ariel and phone on the back of the head unit, its strange, like i said everything else works just no colour map, just a black screen with the small menu and repeat box

Worth checking both cables are still firmly connected to back of screen.

So was it working on old NCDC?

When you say you've had a new NCDC fitted, is it a replacement unit i.e. did you have another NCDC2013 and CID in there before, or is this an upgrade?

was the old one de-paired properly and the new one paired properly?

no the old one wasnt depaired because of its condition when it blew, the new one was installed using tech 2 by a vauxhall techie

...What TB said... Check both cables are firmly in the back of the CID.

There are two cables/connectors going into the back of the CID. Crudely speaking, the long one does the black and white stuff (amongst other things), and the small (usually blue) one does the color.

The fact that you're seeing the b+w overlay but not the colour map suggests something with the small (RGB) connector.

So how did they depair the CID then? Or has that been replaced as well?

When you select 'Main' do you get a menu with time, date, radio station, etc....?

The colour screen can be configured for a black background with red characters.  It can also be set for a grey background with a variety of colours (factory set).  If you've got red characters on black background, I don't think you've got a problem with wiring.

In order to get a map on display, using the right dial, select settings and work through until you get the map and scale options.

TB, you can be sooooo harsh!!!

I enjoy driving without being able to see the fuel indicator needle actually drop as it guzzles the unleaded..  That is about the only positive about being Omegaless   :-/

Might have to leave this forum, it's too painful (is there a smiley in green that can depict my envious nature)?

Getting back to the original post the fault has to be in the black RGB lead going into the map feed on back of screen. When I got VX to fit my new  screen last year they had a problem with the map - they just did not connect the black lead

Is it not offering the map as an option, or is map just blank?  If the former, and the RGB is there, the system needs restarting.  Try switching on with no CD, then putting CD in, that may restart it.

its just a black screen with the menu box in the left corner, ive been thro all the map options, scale etc, changed the navi disc twice will no joy,ive checked the connectors on the back of the cid but they are fitted and locked into place,

i have talked to a car audio specialist and he said he thinks it a problem with the head unit,he said if there was a problem with the ariel i wouldnt get any form of navagation

I had exactly the problem you have after I had my CID repaired. The small 12 pin Camlock connector was locked and appeared fully seated but all I got when tried the Nav system map was a black screen with the menu at top left of screen. If I wiggled the camlock connector the map would flash on and off but would not stay on permanently. I solved this in the end by removing the camlock cover and exposing just the ISO connector which I then plugged straight in the back of the CID. Had no problems since. You can remove the cover by cutting the nylock strap at its base and then gently prising both bottom edges of the cover outwards with a small screwdriver whilst pulling the cover gently upwards. Its possible that one of the connexion pins may have got pushed backwards and is not making contact so check this  first and then try plugging exposed connector back into CID. If it works then I'd put it back together without the camlock cover!!

No, I bet he has a home made lead, and wants it to lock in place!

You can use the connector from a cd changer cable albeit it doesn't have a camlock...... I'm guessing that's what Mark has got!
