Omega General Help / Cold start rough idle ussue
« on: 12 August 2015, 08:55:32 »
There we go........four days into ownership and a problem occurs ! :(

Starting from cold in the morning it (2.6 V6) fires up ok, but after 10 seconds or so revs drop and runs rough. Struggles to pick up for first 50 yards then it's off, no problem and idles ok after that.
Does feel hesitant at low revs generally, but once above 2500 revs it's fine.
Throw me a checklist please. Will check for oil in plug wells, but wondering if there's an inlet problem (gunk blocking a butterfly valve or similar - my old XJ40 Jag had a similar issue).

Cheers in advance.

Hi all.

Have had a problem on two occasions recently, both requiring RAC call-out (only for it to start when they arrived !)..............anyway, the car starts fine from cold and runs fine (although a little lumpy at tickover on LPG - no surprises there), but I'm having a nightmare whenever I've stopped the car and left it for 30 minutes or so..............................refuses to fire up !

Turns over, but doesn't even cough. Tried some 'engine start' yesterday (after walking around for miles in the pissin' rain, trying to find a motor factors), , thinking it might be the 'choke' getting itself confused, to no avail. RAC guy turns up about an hour later and hey presto..........it starts after a couple of turns !

Only faults showing on their diagnostic are lambda sensors and a MIL fault (which I think is something to do with the LPG switching), which wouldn't affect ignition.

Any ideas ? Crank sensor perhaps (although no fault shown) ?

Don't really want to get rid, as it's pretty economical on LPG, but can't be doing with the hassle of this every time I leave the car for half an hour !

Ta.

Okay.........I've had cars with minimal room to get to the back of the headlight, but this is crazy !

Am I missing something, as I don' t want to be removing the whole assembly, just to change a sidelight bulb !!!

Your frustratedly !

Hi all.

Have a few issues to resolve on my facelift 2.5 V6 Elite, before it goes for MOT.

ABS and TC light now mainly on, with no speedo and heavy steering, which usually points to be the ABS ECU......which I believe is a pig to replace. However, I used to get a Low Beam FLD Vision warning, but this only appears now, when the speedo is working and the ABS/TC light isn't lit.

I can't see that the self-levelling lights are linked to a speed sensor, or the ABS ECU, so am wondering why this anomoly occurs. :-?

If it needs a new ABS ECU, but I can't get one cheaply, I'm toying with wiring the ABS light to the oil pressure light, to get through the MOT............but need to know how I get the Instrument binnacle out first. Have removed Senator clocks before, but not on Omegas, so any advice/tips welcomed. :y

Cheers.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CD changer wiring route
« on: 17 June 2007, 22:50:16 »
Hi All.

Am wanting to change the standard set up to my Pioneer head and changer. Is it worth pulling out the old changer wiring or just running the new one alongside ? i.e. is there room for both ?

Also, what route does the O/E wiring take and are there any awkward bits I need to know about.

Have fited kit to plenty of Cavs, but never an Omega, so need some reassurance !

Cheers.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Rear door speakers
« on: 17 March 2007, 22:58:45 »
Does anyone know what size the rear door speakers are ? I'm advised the fronts are 17cm, which will suit my Component set just fine, but am not sure about the rears.

Anyone fitted 6x9's in the rear shelf ? Seem to remember that cutting any holes in this area is a serious No,No ?!

Omega General Help / Part number needed
« on: 29 May 2011, 21:58:15 »
Need part number for the ABS pump/ECU for a 2000 (W) X25XE Elite.

Need a new one (no speedo/power steering and ABS/TC light on all time) and want to make sure I'm looking for the right one on Flea bay !

Anyone got the parts fiche or EPC ?

Omega General Help / 'Oil Lack' message
« on: 05 May 2007, 18:32:20 »
Was trundling down the motorway today, when the 'oil lack' message came up on the display. Stayed on for about a minute or so, then went of and hasn't come on since (done approx 50 miles).

Checked oil a few minutes after message came up and oil was well above minimum (car had only been stopped for less than a minute), so am wondering if this was a rogue fault ?

Any ideas ? :-?

Omega General Help / Oh Bugger !
« on: 22 March 2007, 20:10:15 »
The car has decided it wants 15 attempts before it will start ! Runs fine then, although it did cut out again after 30 yards tonight, then drove 20 faultless miles. Appears to start okay when warm.

Too dark to try the paperclip test now, but pretty sure it's the crank sensor. Just hope it starts in the morning, as I won't be able to get to the motor factors to buy a new one !!!! :-[

Omega General Help / Omega Manual on CD
« on: 21 March 2007, 20:33:23 »
Hi all.

Just bought what I thought was a workshop manual on CD, which turned out to be the TIS2000.

"Great", I thought, as my TIS2000 (2005 version) wouldn't install after I had to re-format the Hard Disc, following some problems with my PC a while back.

Anyway, loaded the software on, but wasn't sure whether to click 'allow access' when my viruschecker/firewall prompted, so clicked 'allow access once'. Did this at each prompt and finally got the software laoded up.

Trouble is, it wouldn't let me into the sections and asked fror Internet access each time. Ended up with message saying 'container does not recognise' or something and kept freezing ! Affected access to a website also (nothing Vaux related though)

Anyway, have uninstalled it and restored my system, so all is well again. Wondering if I should attempt re-install, but click 'block all access' this time. Can't remember what I clicked when I installed to 2005 version !

Any ideas ? :-?

Omega General Help / Clunking from Glovebox !
« on: 19 March 2007, 23:52:05 »
Hi all. I'm getting clunking and other odd noises coming from behind the glove box, which I assume is the heater/vent control module/servos ?

Is this something which can be overhauled, or is it simpler to replace ?

Seems to work Okay, albeit not without some protest, so would prefer to clean it or give it a quick once over with WD or ACF50 !

Omega General Help / Front wishbones and links.
« on: 18 March 2007, 21:48:45 »
Quick question again. Are these replacable by the 'average joe' - i.e. me, with a good general knowledge and experience of vehicle maintenance ?

I'm not looking at trying to replace the bushes, as I know this needs special tools and I know the front will need re-aligning, once done.

Any advice (a 'how to' would be good!) welcomed.

Cheers.

Rob
(P.S - ditto crank sensor !)
