CID - Whats involved?
« on: 04 May 2009, 11:33:30 »

i have a NCDC2013 but i would like to upgrade to the CID from the GID....

but whats involved? extra cabling? obviously the CID...ive read about programming and pairing and hte likes but im a little confused. if someone could lay that out nicely for me it would be much appreciated.

and i suppose i should ask....how much are we talking?

De-pair GID from 2013
Remove GID from dash
install de-paired CID in dash and locate extra 12pin RGB cable tucked behind dash (hopefully - Elites have it, others probably don't)
Set coding of screen to match wheel size, engine size transmission type etc
pair 2013 to CID

Enjoy

Price varies wildly but expect to pay around £300 - £600 for a good de-paired CID, although there are other options that TheBoy will explain!

What's the charge for depairing the CID - have a spare one which is split from its head unit, it works fine no faults just needs depairing ready to use

I had a CID that went 'streaky'. The fault was traced to a dry joint on the ribbon cable connector on the screen PCB. This PCB linked the screen to the other 2 PCBs. The joint was approx 0.5mm wide and a good friend of mine managed to re-flow the joint and cure the fault; eventually

The screen is replacable. The original part number is a Sharp LQ5AW126 which I believe has been superceded by a Sharp LQ5AW136 (this needs careful checking though).

As the screen is a distinct separate part within the CID, I believe it (the screen) could be replaced without affected the pairing issue, since the data and pairing code for the CID is held on boards 2 and 3 (taking the screen PCB as board 1) and these are not part of the screen (not CID) assembly.

New Sharp screen is approx £150 - £200

HTH and good luck

Earlier facelifts did not have the rgb cable for CIDs, so may need to do a bit of loom additions
