When I replaced mine I did it from the top.
Just removed the heatshield from the exhaust
manifold to give my wrists some room for access, and
changed the sensor by touch.

Now I know that the oil dipstick tube is a pushfit, I
would undo it's single securing bolt, remove the tube
and make access to the sensor much easier.

The sensor is too fat to pull it out if you follow the
original cable route, but if you re-route iaw with my
previous post, you can just cut the cable and then
fit your new one.

I have a strong suspicion that I'm teaching my granny
how to suck eggs here  ::) , but hey- ho, it might
help someone else reading it.  :)

Well I could not get my hands down or up >:( tried always.... could not even see the bloody crank sensor :o
Ah well I know for next time exactly what to do ;)
