thanks mate not got off to a good start not even a wk and the alternator jst packed in i hope this isnt a sign as to how things are goin to go with the car

The DTi is a quite a reliable lump & so long as the oil's changed regular, you should have a trouble free motor.
If you can, remove the cat as it's not needed for MOT etc. You'll gain extra all round power & increased MPG. I removed all silencers & the cat. I replaced the back box with free flowing twin pipe. The power increase is certainly noticeable & i gained an extra 3mpg :)
