Like doorways and ceilings in 400 year old houses have grown in relationship with the contemporary person, so have cars grown to meet the new demands of us modern, larger, people ;)
My ceilings are 10 foot high (1890 house) most are 8 foot or less these days
and new houses are shoeboxes

.....
The "park brake/handbrake" is also the "emergency brake" in the event of rapid brake fluid loss .
selecting P at 100 err I mean 70 won't end well for the gearbox  :P
 .....

so why wear it out using it when you don't need to  ::) ::)
Using it stops the cable (which is plastic lined) and mechanisms from seizing .
Also , in the event of someone crashing into the Omega while it's parked (which has happened to me many times  >:( ) it puts less strain on the park pawl
Failure of the pawl could see 2 ton of Vauxhall's finest opel rust on it's merry way down the road

which raise the question of why you use it on an auto?  ::) ::)  ;)

My handbrake is 3 clicks ,TIS says 7 IIRC , I know why too ,but never had an issue at 3 clicks in 20+ years of Carltons and the Omega .

I'm a rebel  :D

So you don't actually know what caused it to come on in the first place ???
It really doesn't matter, probably just an old code that cleared with clean starts.
It's best to spend that 15 seconds READING the code right in front of you and know for sure IMHO
EML could pop on again at MOT ,costing time and retest fee or worse

Unless Lizzie is one of those types that closes her eyes as she exits the motorway ON slip road and hopes for the best  :P
Covid, EML's, you worry too much  ;D
It's not my car ,so I'm not worried about Lizzie's EML  ::)
And she's unlikely to be on the roads I use when she does break down  :D
I was just giving a little advice  ;)
"fail to prepare... prepare to fail "
I'll get back in me Covid secure bunker  ;D

The numbers for the Omicron sniffle seem to be dropping now so hopefully we can soon get back to normal and DTB can come out of hiding. ::) 8) ;)
"Numbers" are based on confirmed cases after a test
no one can get tests ,so numbers are down

actual cases of people with covid are increasing ::)

and I'm staying in my bunker for the foreseeable ,at least until the beer supply runs low  :P
How do you know if you can't test?
guestimates  based on  info from ONS ,ZOE etc
rather than basing levels on tests (which are in short supply) and many people don't bother to register the results anyway  ::)
also people have returned to work and school so i imagine another increase in cases
(despite the "peak" of this wave being reported )

I'm not surprised really ,the Omicron strain is very spreadable .
could well have been Delta last time and Omicron this time .

Some people are more susceptible to illness than others, you can reduce the risk in many ways ,Vitamin D supplements etc .

Being a teacher surrounded by snotty nose, germ ridden kids  for 5 days a week can't help .

Whilst the current Vaccines do help reduce serious illness in the vaccinated, they don't stop the spread  ::)

I hope science comes up with a real solution soon and the long term effects of exposure to repeated  variants of covid isn't serious ,there are already "long Covid" sufferers who will be a drain on resources indefinitely  :(

I do hope no one gets seriously ill with the latest bout Uncle Stemo  :)
