I found this interesting to compare the past and present. Was surprised how long some kind of welfare systems have been in place.

Found this bit rather good " Instead vagrants, who wandered from job to job, were frequently whipped and sent to prison for short periods if they weren't working. " Thought a few people here would like that one to come back  ;D

I personally think that we do need some of the old school ways brought back, however it's never going to happen because the nancy, pooftah PC brigade believe we all need wrapping up in cotton wool.
