General Discussion Area / Re: World Cup Thread
« on: 24 June 2018, 17:44:28 »
Now I know nothing about football and have no interest in it
I just picked up my iPad and saw the  headline alerts (news) there is an item from the independent saying the BBC  commentor (Danny something or other ) was biased towards England with his commentary .
What the hell is happening to the world we are in England watching English TV on the BBC why the bloody hell would we not be biased towards the English team    :D >:(

Why the hell do they make it so difficult to get rid of stuff like this .
Surely it is in their interest to take it in , it would stop illegal dumping and then save them money clearing it . It is just stupid 😣
That is in general and no way aimed at Terbert 😁

General Discussion Area / Light in the sky
« on: 13 May 2018, 21:44:48 »
Sat at home looking out of the window I can see a bright white single light , it appears about the same time every night just after 2100 hrs . It first appears at approx 270 degrees in the west and in have an hour it has moved over to 280 degrees .
I don’t think it is an aircraft as it only appears to move sideways and does not get any closer or further away , and it repeats this every night .
Any ideas what it could be ?
Apparently SWMBO reckons it is the space station ?

As said, give them a ring and I'm sure it will soon be sorted. On a side note, I did give you a wave as I went past your place but you were under the bonnet of the Pathfinder. I was in ze white German so you wouldn't have recognised me.  :y
You know what I did see you but I did not realise it was you   :-[  until I just read this , I had blown the fuse for the rear lights and was searching for the fuse it only took another couple of hours to find it  >:(
And yes I think I think I will have to give dvla a ring at least it is taxed so won’t flag up

General Car Chat / Taxing a car
« on: 18 March 2018, 08:22:14 »
Well time to ask the OOF font of knowledge a question again 😁I have just sold My Insignia and bought a Nissan Pathfinder ( I know but I had reasons for doing this 😏)
I had a private plate on the Insignia which was removed Thursday via dvla and put on retention ready to go on the new (to me)car on Friday morning this was no problem and cost £80
However Friday lunch time when I went to pick up the new car I tried to tax online  it but was unable to do this .
Checking dvla the pathfinder is showing it has my plate on but it is also taxed still which is why I can’t tax it ?
As the number plates have been swapped over neither V5 is correct the Insignia went back to its original number so that will come back to me with that on which I then need to give to the dealer
Which he was ok with ,to me it looks like the V5 ( with the new plate ) for the pathfinder will go to the lady who sold the car I need to send off the new owner section to dvla to get the V5 in my name with the new plate and owner .
So how do I tax the car anyone know , would the post office be able to do , rather than doing it online ? Any ideas any one

200L/day water ingress apparently; which sounds like the proverbial drop in the ocean to me, given the size of the ship and assuming it has a decent bilge pump..

It says 200L an hour from what I read

« on: 04 December 2017, 23:54:10 »
I have just had hive heating fitted , the time clock unit has been replaced for a hive controller we now have a new thermostat which is wireless and can be moved about .
All the setting is now done on my iPad on the hive ap .
It seems to be working well .
I also use hive to control the lights around the house  and I have a couple of the hive cameras  .
The cameras are good I think they let use keep an eye on the house , I got them mainly due to a problem neighbour 🙄

What are people’s views on these ? I have an old laptop which needs replacing .It is not dutiable to upgrade to windows 10 ( it is running vista basic )
I don’t want to spend a fortune on a new laptop but I don’t want a cheap new one with no memory so I was looking around and found a few sites selling recon laptops with win 10 on but not sure if they are a good idea they come with warranty for a year so they can’t be too bad a risk can they

Does anyone know how to get in too a keyless entry Focus that has a flat battery
My friend says they have just a fob
I looked online and found something which involves taking the fob apart and then there is a key blade inside which can remove a cover and then exposes a lock barrel
Any ideas guys  :y
