« on: 09 May 2017, 19:43:56 »
Right so the guy turned up and explained what was going on , it is all to do with online betting basically  you sign up ( on Facebook )  no bank details are given and it does not cost any money to join !
They load the pre paid card with some money use this to bet with his example was to load the card with £20 of his money  they place the bet  and we get back £15 and he keeps £5 not sure how this works to be honest .
But swmbo got another £50 cash in her hand , if she refers anyone else she gets £40 , so maybe it is not as dodgy as it seems and it really is money for nothing ?

I found the same card  although the picture she showed me was green ,the thing is she does not keep the card it is in her name and needs to be signed by her

Exactly what I said  , apparently it is
Evolution sports trading
It has something to do with bookies !!
She has a prepaid card Seasons visa in her name he is bringing it here for her to sign then she will get £50 a month a total of £200
She has already had £50 from them and this was bought to the house her brother has done it too and a couple of friends have also done it and had the money

Swmbo has just said some bloke is coming around later to see her 🙄
Apparently it is to do with a prepaid card (seasons Visa card ) she has said you need to give them some details i.e. Driving licence or passport number and also show them a household bill with your name and address on , you don't have to do anything but they send you £50 for signing the card
Now am I just being overly suspicious of does this sound very dodgy apparently she knows a few people that are doing it I have alarm bells ring

Just check everything is unplugged from the sockets then test again , if that doesn't help turn the power off and start disconnecting the sockets  one by one testing every time to see if the fault clears (leave them disconnected ) check the socket as well just in case that is the problem and move to the next one . Hopefully you will find something or at least narrow it down

General Car Chat / Maf sensor problem
« on: 19 December 2016, 10:58:38 »
Had a tinker with Swmbo car yesterday had to replace the front discs and pads on it no problem
Then she mentions it won't accelerate and goes into a limp mode if she tries to pull away too quickly brings up MIL so plugged the scanner in to find it is showing turbo/supercharger over boost fault I cleared this and decided to have a quick look for anything obvious .
Anyway after deciding it was not the weather to be laying on the floor playing cars I put everything back together
Anyway this morning 0700 she goes out and comes back about 10 min later and says the car is dead it won't rev or go over 20mph and it is my fault !! Anyway hooked up the scanner again and found code p0101 air mass sensor problem checked connector as I bought I may have forgot to reconnect it but it was ok quick google for new MAF £120 , then found out I may be able to just clean the maf with contact cleaner so worth a go .
After pulling the cover off the top of the engine to remove the maf and undoing the maf mount I found an old leaf stuck on the maf !
It must have got in there while I had the air filter out , anyway after again putting it all back together the fault has now gone
I didn't know you could clean MAF sensors there are even cleaners for this purpose I just used contact cleaner borrowed from work

General Discussion Area / Amazon emails
« on: 07 December 2016, 10:13:02 »
Just a heads up
I have recently had a couple of emails supposedly from Amazon suggesting someone has tried to buy a fire Hd using my account and that they have refused payment for it , it then gives links to sort it out
I have just contacted Amazon just to double check and the emails are not from Amazon so just be aware , they do look to be very genuine though

I thought it was good  it is good to see them altogether again very much like they were on BBC top gear at least there are some laughs in this not like On Chris Evans top gear ( and I don't mind Chris at all but just not in top gear )

I have been in a similar situation I lost contact with my daughter when she was 3 years old she got in contact with me when she was 17/18 it was a very difficult exciting and emotional experience for us both
She is now 26 and I have a 7 year old grandaughter it has not been easy and we are not as close as we could be it is hard work maybe it is the distance we live apart
So good luck with yours and don't expect too much in one go as Tigers says softly softly

General Car Chat / Re: Space saver spare wheel
« on: 28 August 2016, 19:03:47 »
I had a space saver in mine but then found a 17" new steel wheel on eBay for £10 it was listed as an 18 but they don't do 18" someone put up a chart that you could get the correct size tyre which was really useful to get it back up to almost the same diameter
I have the country tourer and it has a slightly higher profile than yours will have
Your best bet is look on eBay for an alloy the same as yours
I don't know if you are aware but IE site has almost come to a grinding halt there is a new site if you don't already know about it

General Car Chat / Re: Aircon debugg
« on: 28 August 2016, 17:03:01 »
I have done the debug bombs myself before but wanted it done at dealer as the car is still in warranty
I run the climate all the time so it should be ok but reading it is a good idea to have the system recharged every two years to check it topped up , in the past I have only ever had a system looked at when it starts to play up I am guessing that is the same as most people do
