General Car Chat / Re: 2.5 TD Length & Width(!)

At this point I'd take an approx length / width height best guess ballpark with a tape measure!

General Car Chat / 2.5 TD Length & Width(!)

So, as a side project I seem to have purchased a little Polish fire engine.
Given everything I have is either an omega or omega powered. I was wondering if someone could measure their block for me!

I need the length, width and height of the substantial engine itself, to see if it will go in the hole.
(It mounts from underneath and would have to fit between the ladder chassis, and ideally not stick out at the front!

If anyone has a magnificent beast and is able to measure, or has an X25TD kicking about in the SW I can come have a look at do let me know.
Yes, I did consider running a silky smooth 3.0 petrol, but need this to do some miles and is going to be heavy as it's 1450kg before I've bolted anything like a high top to it yet!

If you have a 2.5 and a measuring tape I'd greatly appreciate it. I've googled about the M51 everywhere and can't even find the dimensions of the block online!

As you can see alloys need a refurb, but have no kerbing!

Putting these up as someone may speculatively want a set for next year!  :y

Top Spec winters, which, bar a clean are as new.
Llooking for £250 for wheels and tyres as package, but if either / or interest you drop me a pm!

These are V rated and XL spec with the 8 snowflakes, so no problems whichever european country you want to drive to with snow!
New at very end of Dec 2013

No damage, still clean up glossy black with a wash. These were fantastic on the mig - if a bit too sticky for my liking!  ;D

I've not fitted the original wheels back yet (much better condition paint / lacquer wise).
Either are available, although I've had a couple of pms about the summer (original FL mv6 wheels)

Not washed / polished yet, so pretty much as is as it was pouring this morning.

Only significant area needing a touch up. (You can see it needs a wash at this distance!)

Trim to be fitted on the new system to extend it.

Thanks Tigger - I helped, but mines the other side of the road!

I've also remembered that this has had the gearbox seals renewed recently too.

Happy to take a non-refundable deposit to hold it towards the right prospective owner, say until March sometime.

For those seriously interested in moving forward am happy to take walk round of the car / other vids / pics etc.

Cars for Sale & wanted / Omega MV6 2.6 Manual FL Saloon for sale
« on: 11 February 2014, 10:27:51 »
I've got an opportunity to purchase a 3.0 MV6 I sold on a few years ago back again, and to save it from the crusher.
In order to do this, I have to sell the 2.6 Omega I've had and loved for the past couple of years. It really is the tightest and nicest driving one I've had!

It's a 2.6 MV6 in star silver. It has just over 92k genuine mileage and will go up as used every couple of days.
MV6 Cloth interior, heated seats working, no rips or tears - in great condition.

Has had in the past 6 months:
Replacement Exhaust system
Oil cooler, cam belt, aux belt + tensioners. (less than 2k ago)
New hand brake cable complete
new coil pack on the RHB.
New wishbones and tie bars, discs and pads
New hub / wheel bearings on the fronts
Reversing sensors fitted so parents could drive it(!)
4 new falkens on FL alloys (12 months)
A colour coded Sony DAB/MP3 headunit (with steering wheel controls)
full tow bar fitted, and has a summer MOT date (will check exact date - around July from memory)
new Cruise stalk and switch fitted too.
(it's had much more than this, but this is off the top of my head!)

It's sold as tax and tested and only has the following niggles I'll try to get sorted before sale:

Sometimes triggers "Coolant Low" as the sensor in the header tank got gummed up when the oil cooler went.
The headlights are a bit more yellow than some, but not as bad as others (need new motors - Rob G has some for sale!)
There is gravel rash on front bumper on one side, but not noticeable when polished up.

Additional info:

Has always run with an automatic ECU since I've had it. Changing ecu to manual one, or designation of this one to manual by Vauxhall causes an EML at 4k. But with auto designation it really drives flawlessly and has done over 10k with no problems, EML or anything! I'm sure an OOF'er with Tech 2 will be able to diagnose this once and for all!
The exhaust has a trim on it to extend a PFL system past the bumper - this needs replacing with a stainless one, which is what it had originally - but trim was stolen while in Bristol!

Additional items available at extra cost:

I also have an early set of MV6 wheels, running 4 x Avon Ice Touring Winter tyres (new Dec 2013) available separately or as a deal price.

It still cleans up lovely as you can see from the pics (autumn 2012, 2013 and 14 pics above - but current ones to come as soon as it stops raining!)

Looking for £600 ono without stereo
Looking for £700 ono with stereo / controls / facia
Looking for £850 with stereo and both sets of wheels / tyres

Again, only for sale to allow saving of another one I shouldn't have let get away!

Last 2 pics are from Feb. Car will be valeted in / out before any sale.

PS: I don't listen to Kiss, that was day the stereo was fitted.. bit of a fan of R6 though..

Omega General Help / Re: The Glitch is back... (MV6 Y26SE LIMP)
« on: 08 January 2014, 23:06:14 »
Right, well £500 in fuel lighter, I'm looking to get to the bottom of this. The omega will become the second car about March instead of the newest thing I own with a new thing on the way. But despite obvious advantages of MPG etc we have decided that Kat's MK4 astra will be going on to pastures new instead.

I'm hoping that sorting this out might give me a couple more mpg though. With winter stickies on she averaged 26mpg over 2000 miles of motorway! That's the same I get around the lanes pretty much. Didn't miss a beat the whole way mind. Bar a heart in mouth moment when the coolant level warning came on during a 4 car pileup endued traffic jam near dresden when sat in stationary traffic. A quick check prooved it was just gunk from the previous oil cooler problem still in the system bunging it up!

Not sure if they are one unit or not, but when the Omega was on Tech2 I got them to check why I had FLD/LVL light error and it listed both motors nearside and offside faulty (not the rear sensors)

As the lights are also the deepest yellow I've seen (tried cutting compound / toothpaste etc and machine use on them) but they are still rubbish.

As a result I'm after a pair of both (not sure if they are one unit or not) either way - the price for both new is crazy!

Looking forward to getting back to Blighty and getting it sorted, but the old girl has done me proud so far. Over 1000 miles today on the auto ecu and not a whimper. Currently in Poland heading for mountains. Was nasty accident in Dresden where the coolant level warning came on, but that was just a gummed up sensor from the oil coolers fail last month! Its been living up to it's autobahn storming name that's for sure!

Correct fuse. The factory manual ecu and a different auto ecu told to be manual produce exactly the same symptom s.

Car is manual from factory, running auto ecu at present with no performance issues.
