Up here we have Barr's soft drink maker, who make Irn Bru......

All Irn Bru is now made in factories in England with the exception of the glass bottles which are still made in Scotland, there is a big difference in the taste of it,due to the fact that Scottish water is a lot softer than most English water,no limescale problems etc etc

Barr's had a 2 page spread in the papers a couple of years back explaining why plastic bottles and cans of Irn Bru tasted different to glass bottles.....the water used was the official reason..

also why is it that coke tastes different in a glass bottle than it does from a can?
Doug

Purely down to the container, the inside of a glass bottle does not transfer any taste to the liquid inside because glass is effectively 'sealed' where as the metal of a tin can is porous and will 'taint' the liquid inside slightly......plastic bottles will also give the contents a taste due to the the chemicals in the plastic moulding process, all within safe consumable levels but plastic and tin cans will slightly change the taste of the contents..

Its the same with beer if you think about it,a bottle of say Miller will taste better in bottles than in cans...

All to do with containers! :y

Newcatle Brown Ale better from a bottle than a can! ;)

There is no such thing as bad beer, some beers are better than others.
