Calling all trailer owners!
« on: 29 June 2010, 14:55:05 »

Hi all, just a quick one to ask if anyone can help?

My sis has a car that she desperatly needs taking back to her house in Devon, the car is currently in aldershot Hampshire.

Just wondered if anybody fancied earning themselves some money and would include free meals etc.. :D

We looked into the cost of hiring a trailer etc and its more money than she can afford to be honest.

Like i say she is desperate as where it is now at my mothers she is moving soon. :(

have you got a rigid towbar, if not they dont cost that much, and then just tow back your self.

I hired a proper trailer for about £60 for a days hire.

Do you think that's expensive?

What car is it that needs recovering >?? As weight is a prime concern for anyone offering to help. An Omega cannot - legally - tow another Omega as you exceed the allowable max train mass.

So in order to be safe and legal a few questions need to be asked... :(

Well according to this site ..

http://www.cuddles.abelgratis.net/nissan.htm

around 1300-1400 Kgs

So WELL within the towing limits of an omega  :y :y

Add the weight of a trailer 200-300 Kgs and you are still OK .. just

next question ...  why does it need recovering ???

As any problems with brakes/suspension/steering/transmission mean it must use a trailer and not a towbar

If it is an auto it will need work before towing, and if towed would need someone sat in it !!

So having worked all that out .. a decision on trailer/towing can be made ... rigid towbars much easier to get hold of than trailers .. :)

A decent trailer will weigh a fair bit more than that.

Our new twin axle trailer made of light aluminium is 645 kilos....  :(

...but were in Scotland so afraid a bit to far to assist...
