Let me speak to a colleague tomorrow who runs a recovery business on the side he may have a trailor and all it will cost is beer money.  What is the car that needs to be moved?

Due to it has NO TAX or MOT, then you can in theory drive it on the road.
Just book an MOT in Devon and drive it down there ;-)
(Ensure that you check everything works first of cource)
As long as you have a prebooked appointment you can drive it to the MOT station for a test. All for the price of £45.00 MOT :-)
Looking through the legal side of this it does not actually state maximum distance to the MOT Station (As far as I can find) ;-)

No, would take alot of tools to fill a lwb transit?

The point is if you passed your test after 97 then you can only drive up to 3500kg gtw, if your van is plated at 3.5 tonnes then you can't tow a trailer as you would  have the ability, to exceed your gross train weight, doesn't matter if vans full or empty you'd have the capacity drive otherwise in accordance of your licence.

Stupid really as I often drive a tractor
With a 20 tonne trailer and that's fine on a normal licence, but with the car can't tow more 750kg ::)

um no you cant, did you even read the link you posted?

you can now tow a trailer as long as its within the the mam of the car, and the trailer mam doesnt exceed the the unlaiden wieght of the car.

so if your cars unlaiden wieght is 1300 kg, you can tow a trailer  up to a mam of 1300 kg as the total is 2600 so thats below 3500kg.

you cant just drive up to 3500kg

so if you has a trailer say of 1700 kg mam youd be fine to tow this with an omega, but if you then towed to with a  smaller car like say an old corsa, youd be breaking the law as the unliaden corsa wieghs less than the trailers mam.
