Omega General Help / Re: Reluctant to start
« on: 01 December 2006, 07:20:42 »
My elderly 2.5, is the same especially in the cooler months, summer is no problem at all.  What I normally do is turn on ignition and wait about 5 seconds then turn key further to start, works that way for me, its probably fuel related ie pressure drop, but as its only a mild inconvenience I wont be putting my mechanics hat on.

Now I know what those strange numbers mean on my MID if I push the two buttons on the right stalk together. Its amazing the information you can get without even posting.  There are so many push and hold buttons and switches on an Omega to set up or reset systems, shall we set up  a definitive place we could add anything we find, especially those like me who have no handbook, pass etc.

Thanks Pete/Mark I thought there might be a reason for it being there. By the way Pete you forgot semaphore signalling/ side valve engines and on my first car, Rod Brakes (hand brake and foot brake operating the same system) and finally the windscreen had a handle to wind it open ;D (hope I haven't gone off topic to far ;)

Omega General Help / Multiram
« on: 10 August 2006, 10:53:53 »
Coming from the older school of car mechanics, when Dynamos and Control Boxes reigned supreme, and when the Carburetter was king, and basic engine functions were Suck,Squeeze, Bang, Blow.  Is it not possible to disconnect this Multiram gizmo, and just have air going into the cylinders?  without it being pushed and shoved this way and that. By the way my system is working correctly

Omega General Help / Re: Heater control rod of some description.
« on: 02 August 2006, 14:54:55 »
I did a How 2 on a similar forum to this ;) on early models with rotary heater controls, and also noted this bar. It might also be worth checking that you have not dislodged the vacuum pipe assembly which is also adjacent to the bar (round rubber type thing with small pipes going into it) It just pushes on the connector at the rear of the controls.

Omega General Help / Alarm Query
« on: 02 August 2006, 14:42:44 »
I saw the post by Wigan Pier regarding alarms, and I have a query.  I know the alarm works on my '94 2.5 CDX i've tested it by lifting the bonnet as well as activating the internal sensors. My query is, when I set the system using the i/r remote to lock doors etc, the internal tell tale light comes on and then blinks, but there is no external indicator flashing or any audible sounds at all, is this correct for the early models?

Omega General Help / Feeling Sluggish
« on: 25 July 2006, 06:58:56 »
Hi Folks. I'm beginning to notice a bit of sluggishness in the acceleration of the old omega.  When cold it goes like a rocket but after some time, when its really warmed up, if you put your foot down it is very slow to pickup almost to the point of labouring.  Any suggestions.

General Discussion Area / Found you all again
« on: 13 July 2006, 20:21:24 »
Hi everybody, it's great to find a dedicated omega site again, i got a bit fed up with the other one, all those knives in backs was making my eyes water. We all know what great fun owning an Omega is [smiley=rolleyes.gif], every bit of information, know matter how obscure it may seem to non owners, was always welcome. Keep up the good work and contributions  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
