Is this something old people have to do? :)

Yes. And DVLA haven't got the guts to force them to pass driving tests again either (assuming they ever took one) so they're dawdling around everywhere, 40MPH in a 20, 40 in a 40, 40 in a 60, 40 in a 100.  ::)

Usually with a deranged whippet  in the back. ;D

Periodically this subject comes up on the forum. I think the UK should do like Spain and have a medical every five years in order to renew your licence after 65.

Doesn’t stop the idiots  driving under 65 but is a start..

With Diabetes we do in affect get a medical review every 3 years, with full medical disclosure by the GP to the DVLA.  So at least one sector of the 'older' generation is being medically monitored.

How long though before no one will require to learn to drive or have a licence with no doubt the continuing progress of electric , hydrogen cell vehicles that drive themselves?  Within 20 years?  Or even linked in to the demise of internal combustion engines after 2030, with great advances in technology? ??? ??? ;)

That’s unfair. The doddery old fart this morning was doing between 15 to 25mph in the NSL, but did reach a whopping 45mph in the 30 limit on Bicester. Left me for dust. I caught him up at a roundabout, as he had to wait for traffic to approach before he could pull out.

Define working? Being as idle and useless as they are when at work? Or even more idle?

The trouble is, you eventually reach a point where you daren't pull out in case you can't get back in :D

There's only one place where they manage to gain significant momentum.
