I will be going for the S23 Ultra 512Gb (But I knew I probably would anyway)

Tho only major difference in technology I see so far is the the I14 range has satelite connectivity and Samsung have made no mention of this for thier phones yet.

I don't get excited about phones. As longs as it has a reasonable quality "feel" and works I'm happy.

For quite some years I've been sim free and buy outright and gone for whatever is mid-range Motorolla (currently on a G8 Plus) at about £200 or so and just replace it every 2/3 years. Works for me. I'm just not sure what an expensive handset brings to the table.

I have a 512GB Samsung S23 Ultra, which was a replacement for my S8. I bought mine outright direct from Samsung as I’m Sim only. Good camera, even in the dark, good zoom but the phone is noticeably bigger than my S8, which might annoy some people. It just fits in my automatic Auckley Wireless car holder, with about 8mm leeway on either side. I got the Samsung Ear Buds thrown in with mine but they’re of no use to me as I wear hearing aids.  ::)

My 2nd phone  is an Oppo A9 2020 that weighs in at 195 grams, 6.5" screen and dual sim

The Galaxy is 234 Grams 6.8" screen , dual sim so just short of 40 drams heavier

When I bought the Oppo Carphone wharehouse told me it was capable of wireless charging (Sadly not the case)

So far then The Galaxy looks like the way to go  :y

Excellent Camera
Dual Sim
Wireless charging
512 Gb memory

Just need a deal for the free buds included now.

Skruntie....I have a pair of brand new unused Blackview Tube wireless headphones AirBuds 1. Any good for you?

You can have them if you want them. :y

Seems I just gained 1399 Nectar points ::)

Could not get any freebies from anyone no matter what I tried.

Also took advantage of the Paypal pay in 3 service - downside I tried to do it via credit card  (For the cover etc) but guesing buyin a form of credit on credit was not an option.

Happy either way and got same day delivery. :y :y

It really is pot luck with the freebie’s. I ordered an S23 Ultra 512GB as an outright purchase for my wife in early March and at the time they offered a trade-in reduction or you could use a code which knocked £150 off the price, the latter being the option we took to allow data transfer direct from old phone to new phone in our own time. Just one week later I ordered another S23 Ultra 512GB as an outright purchase for me, and the trade-in reduction was for S20 upwards. The £150 reduction code had gone and had been replaced with free Samsung Air Buds2 instead, which are £219 on the Samsung website. As I say, just pot luck with the timing.

I looked at doing a trade in with my S7 Edge and it was valued at £0, would rather keep it as a backup :y :y

There were some good deals for pre-ordering the S23's.  I think I was offered one half price, but as it was still over £600, I declined ;D.  But certainly was one of the best pre-order discounts I've seen on Samsung phones.

The good ol' US of A has implemented this a while back, and even when I was last there, was getting a lot of them about the bit of wind that was approaching....

It's arguably another way of striking the fear of God into people, especially now that TCV is little more than a wet tissue. :-X

That said, if there was an imminent likelihood of a Tornado flattening my timber frame house, then the heads up to get into the storm shelter might be appreciated  ;)

Ordered one yeasterday lunch time, was setting it up when it was delivered at 7pm.

Mega impressed with the sound quality and and and etc. :D :D

Wish I got one ages ago. :-X

I was sceptical as the info I had read said it was heavier the my Oppo A9 2020, but the S23 Ultra is actually lighter and thinner.

Getting hacked off though trying to get a PAYG sim, but they all seem to last 30 days and then require a payment (So more or less a monthly plan)

Where I live the signal is sketchy from village to village hence I have a Three and a Plusnet contact (Both £6 each 1Gb/Ul/Ul and 7GB/Ul/Ul) but now that I have a spare phone I would like a sim similar to my my old Orange sim, £10 lasted me all year .

Am still looking ::)

Most still offer PAYG, though many offer those bundles of call/texts/data on top as a very popular option, because the millennials need constant data and SMS.

I currently use Giffgaff pure PAYG (that hasn't been topped up in years) as a secondary SIM to my contract EE.  Obviously, I don't purchase GiffGaff's "Goodybag" bundles, as its only a fill in for when EE has no signal or refuses to work.
