You can say "I told you so".......
« on: 20 February 2017, 22:27:46 »

..... But, I have never had a new(er) car, and it was too good a deal to pass by :y

2.0 TDCi, 6 Speed, one careful (family) owner and 60k miles with FSH.

The only mark of note, was this one:

Having decided I couldn't do any worse than the chap who murdered the MV6 door, I had a go myself:

Reset the trip computer before heading home, and after the 40 mile trip (all twisties and backroads) the display was reading 49mpg.

I initially thought it had more previous owners, and about 20k more miles than this, until we went to look and have a chat. But in light of the new information, it seemed like a no brainer at the price we paid :y

For about 2 years my working life revovled around a similar Mondeo.
For what it`s worth, some things I noticed with the cars
I found it powerful & predictable over all road conditions.
We had several in the company I worked for at the time & tried them all
One of the first with 300 miles on the clock for some reason had annoying things from the off
Odd rattles & squeaks would come & go. somehere a droning noise would become apparent  up thru the revs
On another car a dull noise what sounded like a worn wheel bearing  ??? & wind noise at certain speeds. The cruise control would also decide to randomly to turn itself off & throw warning lights on & off.

sounds odd now, but we all liked the silver car :y it seemed tighter & quieter than the others.
To my mind the QA inspection process must have been flawed somewhere along the build  :-\

My best friend has one of these (same yr, 2.0 TDCI 130 I think, TitX) seems a nice thing to knock about in. He has no complaints so far, bought at 70k ish, now 80k odd.

But surely you'll miss the rusty wheel arches and sub 30mpg that Omegas excel at  ;D

Good car for the the daily runabout, and no auto gearbox to go boom. Just give that engine some new fully synth C3/C2 classed oil at good intervals.

I think you have the pick there! The 2.0's came in several variants of approximately 110, 140 and 165bhp (I think ford tweaked these up through the life of the engine) and then a 175 and a 200 bhp 2.2 diesel lump.

Then you have a bewildering array of trim levels sitting over that. From memory I think Zetec is pretty good.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell you that all the injectors will fail, the clutch will explode and the engine will drop out the bottom of the car. It wouldn't be OOF otherwise  ;)

I quite like the Mundano.  Like all modern diesels, it has expensive issues when it gets a few miles on it, but if you want a diesel, thats the price you pay.

Hope it serves you well.
