Title: Wet carpets passenger side 2003 Corsa
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 26 August 2018, 16:57:08
My first thought was blocked scuttle drain like the Omega, but there doesn't seem to be much of anything behind the battery.

Windscreen seal itself?

I think I'll remove the battery for a better look......I have the radio code.

It was fine until a huge deluge a couple of weeks back.

usually the drivers side - pedals seal.

Passenger side. Has the pollen filter not been sealed properly on refitment?

Blocked drain hole (leaves and the like)

bad grommet where the wiring from fusebox goes through into car?

You might have to remove the glove box to get a better view.

Thanks, Mr Varche,

I've had a quick look at the chavs who inhabit the Corsa forum (innit) and there are only so many things it can be. There was a lot of debris around the battery.

It's about time you cubed it and bought the long suffering Mrs Opti a decent car anyway!  :P

You go first with the Victorian BMW and then I'll follow. :)

My BMW is a modern classic  8) , whereas your Corsa is just a common or garden leaky chav-mobile that when cubed no-one will miss!  ::)

Mrs Opti deserves better!  ;D

Yes, of course it is. :).........I didn't realise it was so sought after. I apologise. ::)

Must be worth at least £30,000 and rising. A true classic like a 2002 Turbo or M1.

Mrs Opti deserves better than you. Someone like STEMO would look after her.

Steady on, Tig, you'll hurt his feelings.

That's because he's got one of each in an old barn on his sprawling estate. Now, if only he could remember which barn! :o :P

My money is on the battery tray...

Mk3 Granada did the same if the battery cover was left off...

Either a quick fix or some surgery*... :-\

*Mastic and flog it or welding :D

Two other solutions.

Buy a car cover

Or turf the tata out in the elements to make way for an under cover Corsa.

It can't be. They'd have to be at least 17.  :)

I suspect the average age of a derv Astra owner is considerably higher.   In three figures perhaps. :)

Having said that Jag/Tata owners tend to be pretty long in the tooth. Probably the reason why dullards and old farts on the Jag Info forum banned me (twice) :)

Fusebox seal (under scuttle)
Yep..done a few...take out screws and the seal will be broken..you can use a sealant or buy a new one with seal..But sealant does the job..

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-CORSA-C-FUSE-RELAY-BOX-COVER-LID-2000-TO-2006-GENUINE-PART-FITS-COMBO/273183841609?hash=item3f9b069d49:g:dscAAOSwKtVWzL2z

And when its drivers side leak it is the sealant around the brake servo gone hard and leaking.. :y

Thanks VXL and Steve.

Right next to the battery. I'll take a look and see if it is the culprit. :y

Thanks. I'm surprised he is using draught excluder though. Can't think it would be waterproof.

I would hardly think it's worth the effort even lifting the bonnet, given you'll be paying someone to take it away before long.....  :-\

Envy is a terrible thing, Sir Tig. :)

I imagine the bonnet on the elderly Bavarian is up and down more often than STMO's trousers.........and probably leaks about the same amount.

Don't be bringing me into it. Why don't you both just sell your cars, put the money together, and buy an ice cream or something.  ;D

I doubt that the Corsa that poor Mrs Opti is forced to drive is even worth an ice cream to be honest.  :-\

My car from the stable of Bayerische Motoren Werke however.  :)

Mrs Opti would be very appreciative I'm sure if you replaced the leaky Corsa with a modern classic BMW finished in Royal Red with a sports interior!  :y

A 99 with 2 flakes and a choc ice seems reasonable, but I can only let you have it on a delivery only basis M'lud and there will be a modest charge for delivery of course!  :)
