live in stevenage, heavey rain and thunder and lightning, this evening, cleaned the car this afternoon and as it was hot half opened the sun roof and left it that way till just now, as you can imagine completly soaked in the front, what an idiot I am :'( :'(
-
Well I would hate to agree that you are an idiot, but all evidence is certainly pointing that way......
:y
-
There are those of us who have done it ... and those of us who are going to do it ..... and some of us may even belong to both groups .... :)
-
"Some men are born stupid, some achieve stupidity, and some have stupidity thrust upon them...." ;)
-
Numpty yes, but it's easily done ;D
-
Well it is one way to wash the inside of your car! ::) :D :D ;)
-
Yep! Like when you park in that special place on the drive where you can put the door onto its second 'stop', without it hitting the wall and still get out ok....but you're getting to the nearside wheel today, so you park it well over, instead. Then confidently swing the door open, knowing that it wont hit because you always park in that special place; Oh, apart from today, becau-SMACK!
And then you're buying touch-up paint, that afternoon. Ah.

wife made a good point by saying that she can not believe I am being so calm about it, if she had done it it would be the end of the world and the car would be scrap ;D ;D ;D ;D

My good wife left both front windows and the moonroof open on my last car. Took weeks to dry ::) :-[ ::)
-
you know how some cars have wipers that work automatically when it rains? Maybe they could adapt the technology to make windows and sunroofs that close themselves when it rains.
-
I did that to an old car we had.
Blazing hot sunshine when I left it outside the house with the drivers window open, absolute monsoon in progress when I got back and realised what I'd done.
Every single last lamp on the dashboard was illuminated (water shorting things out obviously) and the car was so full of water I ended up drilling a couple of [ch8539] holes in the drivers footwell to drain the excess off. I also ended up running the car for the best part of 3 hours with the heater on full to dry it out.
The car never did fully recover from that soaking, the main giveaway being the windows used to fog up at almost every oppertunity afterwards.

I have a dehumidifier that sorted my old Granada out when rain got in :y

Just think, one day in the future when you get in your car,and fall straight through, and end up sitting on the floor, you will think back to that day when you left your sunroof open, and think i wont be doing that again. ;D ;D ;)

Hi Jimmas,
Also live St. Evenage.
Also left my sun roof open and windows open yesterday, but was in St. Osyth. nr Clacton. 8-)
Daughter told us of the bad weather yesterday. Spoke to a neighbour about an hour ago. One of their relatives was travelling from MIlton Keynes to Stevenage yesterday, violent hail storm which has caused numerous dents to their cars body work.
Good luck with drying the Mig out and hope things work afterwards.

And a bit off a smell mate. ;D ;)

More of a security thing rather than wet. I mostly drive with the drivers window partly open, so automatically hit the switch when parking up.
Hot day, had both front windows open, parked up on the street, closed my window and went to a meeting, an hour later got to my car, yep, had left it parked up with passenger window wide open....... ::) ::) ::)
Later the same day, parked next to a car in Tesco that had done the same thing......... :D :D :D

Happens to us all, but it is only water! You could make the most of it, shampoo carpets & seats, they need drying whether you do them or not. ::)
