Title: Rear Quater
Post by: senator on 01 October 2006, 13:26:00
How easy/expensive is it to replace the rear quater body panel on an estate?

I don't know.  However, be careful that they do a good job on an estate b/c if the gate doesn't seal afterwards you can get exhaust fumes in the car and that is dangerous.  Saloon's aren't as much of a risk in that regard.

possibly the hardest body repair you can do !

Thats why so many insurance claims involving rear quater panels are just written off - due to high labour involvment !

You will also need a VIC certificate after the repair if the insurance have been notified !

Also a good MOT'er will may be spot the repair unless its a good job !

You'll have to weigh up the pro's and cons on a job like this

Body filler?

You'll be able to pick up two doors dirt cheap without much of a problem if you could get away with just filling the quarter.  ::)

still depends on if the car has been notified as being involved in an accident and written off by an insurance company !

If no insurance company was involved, and you think you can do the job, go for it ! No messy paper work or VIC checks to do !
