Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Water jets short
« on: 16 March 2010, 13:38:59 »
Just wondered if there is a point in the wiring loom to start at as a common area that could cause the fuse to blow for the water jets, I have tried changing the wiper stalk and also the water jet pump, but the fuse still blows so I proceeded to try the water jets without the little pump connected but the fuse still blows, the wipers work fine though obviously after replacing the 30a fuse.

I think sparten is chasing wires in the car as most of his posts are regarding the block in the car. If so I still thinking the yellow wire in centre console is solid yellow and most of the other wires are for speekers its the two red thin wires that is causing the confuson, but after chasing my wires back I cant remember which wire lights up the display. But as sugested seek advice from somebody who can read the voltage would definatly be a verry good and safe way to procead, unles somebody on here has the wireing diagram for us all to look at.

Why do you need to swop over the yellow and red wire. Will it drain power from anothe electical componet eg. rev counter/speedo/or evan air con?

Ok still no wiser as to what the wires are for. how meny speeker wires are ther would be a help as they wouldnt need caping off I am going to have to replace atleast 2 of them so that can wait for another day. My bigest consern is what els is disconected there and am i drawing power from the right wire or was it a part of the wiering loom to display radio chanel ext.

Just to make it clear if the original plug was there id just buy the addapter and id probably have no problem.

Its a 2.5 td select.

Including the 3 set of speeker wire ther are 16 wires there. I have got power to the cd player but if you do have wire digram then just what colour is what would be of moste help.

Ther is no fited stering controles on the car but to the limeted knolage i have on thers cars i dont know if one has been removed, although a litle c.s.i work tels me ther wasn`t as there dose not appear to be a aubvas cut out or blank spot fot stems to be conected. Asuming the steering wheel itself hasnt been changed and controles were part of the wheel.

sorry for babling but trying to paint a fuller picture hoping it helps.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / spedo sterio problem
« on: 25 January 2010, 20:04:41 »

When i bought the car the previas owner pointed out to me that if you was to turn on the cd player when car was moving , the spedomiter would read 0. So first thing i did was to remove the cd player to look at the wiering. Hmm found whot i expeced a lot of cut wire should be easy i thought just find the wrong wire and change it. ok sorted found live earth and so i thought untill i hit one of the brown wires agoinst the metal and earthed it just to see the time display to light up. Now im left with whot i have narowed down to speeker wire (well f/n r/n f/o speekers-cant seem to fined r/o) so wondering if anyone could tell me whot all the brow are for and if i can leave them capt off.Its an old pre facelift if that makes a difrence.

the chances are the light will just flash while driving, good odds n sensor and code 82 or 64 will show if not both. Read the guide on paperclipping and post the codes. There are a lot of helpful members here but need more info to guide you in the right direction as to what to do to fix the problem.

edit: far to slow with my post

300mm x 175mm x 175mm fits prefaclift tray no problem on 2.5td although the cca and ah were massive and the motor factors were reluctant to sell, please don't ask why I just argued with him till he let it go for higher price than quoted but he then dropped price to £65. No jacket on mine mind just sat and clamped in place

Have you tryed puting car in gear with handbrake off and rock a little, after doing this will it start a little easyer.

What's the theory behind this one then, I mean how's that going to help? :-/

Mick ;)

Methinks someone has remembered an old trick on releasing a stuck starter motor ... used to work in 1960 odd !!!!

Has absolutely no relevance to the present problem however !!!

Yes also worked for sticki starters but again didnt realise we were on about an auto

Well it wasnt a fool proof plan but I have found that if I put mine in gear and releas the handbrake I feal as though it starts on the button more often, could just be my car and compresion down or somthing just thought it might be of use for sombody.

Removing wipers and plastic tray under them made life easier for removing and replacing the back nuts although not imposable to do without doing this. There was also a hose clip holding the rubber pipe to the underside of the inlet-manifold so don't just iank it off like I did thinking it was just stubborn. To get the extra room for the twist I lifted the dipstick out.
Must admit went against the advice  :-[ of getting the best plugs on the basis that what I own would not warrant the bigger money. A fine saying said to me `Horses for courses`
Depends on how soon you plan on having to do it all again.  ::)
NGK have been fine on both my Migs.
  :y

I don't intend to do it again though Turk, but with that said when I was about to buy the plugs I wasn't sure whether I should fix he car or scrap it so just 2 cheep plugs would see to the end of mot (aug) as from that point I can then decide whether to keep it or look for a better one and keep as donor or drop engine and box to sell to a taxi driver and scrap the poor looking shell. (it is in a very sad shape/state, no sharps pointing out but been bumped and banged a few times).I still got the plugs I bought as didnt see point in fitting when the back two wasnt conected.

As for manifold gasket I bought sheets of gasket and cut out the ovals with sharp blade that seems to work fine.
