Omega General Help / out of interest
« on: 29 March 2014, 20:08:07 »
Driving to Luton today and decided to try the LPG again!! never been 100% despite James tinkering with it. Today started off the same, running great then in came the misfire and jerking, switch back to petrol then back, spent a while doing this, then from the boot cam a loud and I mean loud pop, could feel it through car.  It then proceeded to run on LPG exactly as it should.  To that point around 60 miles it had used nearly 3/4 tank, from there on I finished my trip to Luton, then back to Gloucester and still have a bit left, which is what I think it should run like.

After the pop car was totally responsive on LPG, so what could it have been? is there PRV that might have been stuck, which might have prevented a full tank being taken on.

Omega General Help / Thermostat?
« on: 18 February 2014, 22:29:06 »
A thought came to me driving back from Pompey about heat and problems associated with it.

Matrix is as clean as it can be, as is rad, when car is static temp reads 90 or above and heat is blissfully red hot, as soon as forward movement takes place temp drops to 80 or below and heat goes, also LPG not happy.  Is this a dodgy stat? if so am I correct in thinking that the 2L is a complete unit replacement i.e. stat+ housing

Omega General Help / Run out of ideas on EML
« on: 27 November 2013, 21:42:24 »
The issues is EML is on but the circumstances are (to me) strange:
it only comes on once engine is warm, car run fine and can reach 70mph no issues then it does start to bang a bit
have replaced cam shaft sensor with known good one and light stayed on
codes read 335 and 340

it all seemed to start after trying to free top heater matrix hose, BUT if I had disturbed something then would not the light be on straight away.

Omega General Help / bonnet catch
« on: 25 November 2013, 14:23:21 »
Strange one, tried to open bonnet but catch will not release, the cable is not broke plenty of spring tension on it.  On pulling can hear like a catch being pulled then slipping, I think I may have left something on the wing so it is forcing bonnet up that tad to much, should be able to clear I hope by having someone bounce as I pull.

If however that does not work any other tricks other than ruining a good grill.

Omega General Help / fans
« on: 24 November 2013, 19:08:50 »
Right as I had no conclusive answer to previous post on fan noise, here is a bit more info, still think I have a blocked matrix (heater) pipes are warm top and bottom, but main fan runs all the time, had this before till James did the matrix and got a good flow through it, stopped fan problem then.  Fan now disconnected but the other fan which is on forward face of rad on r/h/s which I assume is A/C fan now kicks in all the time.  Panel controls are set for heat on both sides and running on auto.

EML now resolved by replacing the Cam shaft sensor. ;D

Omega General Help / Another fan?
« on: 17 November 2013, 17:45:26 »
While investigating poor LPG running, (poor coolant flow) I noticed that my main fan was running all the time, put this down to the fact that its side of rad was hot, lpg side was cold.  This usually means giving the heater matrix a flush.  While running to check all I heard what sounds like another fan kick in from under f/r/h arch area.  Have seen something on here I am sure, but a search turned info on ceiling fans, probably my choice of words.  So what did I hear.

Omega General Help / ECU pins
« on: 12 September 2013, 15:21:28 »
A while back I asked what pin on the ECU would the lead from the MID go to as part of gathering info to retro fitting one to my 2.0 GLS.  Sure TB said pin 21 but have discovered for some reason all my PM have gorn, unless it is an auto clear thing, so can I ask that question again.

Also notice that I have the leads for brake wear indication stowed under front wing, assuming as this is part of one loom fits most theory, if MID was fitted would that bring them into play.

Omega General Help / Result, Result, Result
« on: 07 September 2013, 14:40:54 »
Did I mention I had a result, ah well, at long last have cured the EML light on my 2.0L in the end it was the camshaft sensor, managed to get an original one as did not fancy paying for a kit (literally) of parts to carry out the sensor mod.  took it for a run, no miss firing and light stays out.

Only down side was I cracked the  timing belt cover, as the centre and bottom bolts were just spinning, pulled cover forward to have a look and snap :( mind you it made the job quicker.  So advert in wanted now :)

thanks to all who offered help and to Mark and the rest last week at Newent.

Omega General Help / Is nothing easy ??
« on: 04 September 2013, 15:57:16 »
Full of joy and hope collected new cam shaft sensor, only to be told that a mod was done and also need new loom at £10,0000 each  :'( also told that if I have 3 pin loom I am ok. Got home and going slightly out of sequence removed the sensor lead which popped of a treat, deep joy nice 3 pin loom, came to fit it and now way will it fit.  The new sensor has a collar that protrudes above the pins by at least 1/4" the old one collar finishes level with the pins.

They now are getting the loom in to see what fits and what does not.  part numbers on the sensor packing are GM#24445139
62 38 187
GR 5 5191
anyone know if that is correct for 2.0l

quicker to get new car LOL

Omega General Help / codes
« on: 03 September 2013, 23:50:46 »
reading another post gave me a flash of "I wonder if" with my problems, got the codes of 351 and 335 which are easy but think I might have not understood this one, it came out as 10-3-4-10 which I now understand to read 340 which is cam sensor, if this is correct would it cause the other issues? and if so would it make sense to change it before doing anything else?

Omega General Help / MAF
« on: 03 September 2013, 09:39:40 »
what should the effect be on the engine if MAF disconnected while running? I thought it would make it run lumpy, but may well be wrong, just going through all the issues with my on going  EML problems.
