Omega General Help / Petrol Pump Filter in TANK
« on: 15 February 2023, 00:23:35 »
Hi, my Elite has been standing for 4 years, was running perfectly before I left it to sit. Turned her over last week and she started in within 20 seconds. Left her to run for about 10 minutes before I moved her, then stuck her on ramps to adjust the handbrake. She continued to run for about half an hour. Washed her down, she didn't look bad, turned her off and returned the next day.

Turned her over, but didn't start up as quick as the previous day, took about 5 minutes, she started and then I noticed she wanted to die on idle, so i kept my foot on the throttle until she was warmed up. It looked like she was going to be ok then after about 10 minutes she stalled, then wouldn't start again.

She's got fuel in the tank.

As she had been standing so long i thought I would check the Fuel Pump filter(in the tank) and for rust. It appears ok, hardly any particle of debris in the swirl pot, bottom of Petrol Pump. The Petrol Pump filter, some of the gauze looked clogged, so I blew it out with a light air line but I think I've damaged it.

Anyone know the Omega B Part number, went into Vauxhall Parts today and the bloke said Id be lucky to find one of them new(Forgot to ask him for the OE number). He also seemed to think that Petrol was so clean today, that I didn't need a new filter. I have a new in line Fuel filter so Ill put that on and see what happens, but I would like to put a new Fuel Pump filter back if i can find one.

If anyone has any ideas where I can get one, great thanks in advance.

Found these on line: (all seem to be the same numbers, less than a £5)

« on: 24 December 2018, 20:22:59 »
Hi Guys,

I think my CDC2 has finally given up to the ghost, water appears to have dripped from the boot hinge into the player. Any players out there available that we can connect to the Vaux system. Or, there were other similar units made for other vehicle types, would they be adaptable ?

My unit has the following numbers:
       FB
Type: CDC2
No: 90 566 830
      W1G

Little Sticker:

Omega General Help / Heater Matrix Blow out
« on: 31 July 2016, 22:11:07 »
Hi, I have just had a Heater Matrix blow out going down the M1 at 70 miles an hour. At first I thought a wasp had gone down my Doc Martins boots, it was f***ing painfull. I pulled over to the hard shoulder to see what the problem was, and then I could see the coolant in the foot well.  My mate recons the pressure temperature was probably at 100 degrees C when it hit the side of my leather boot, if it had gone direct to the skin it would have burnt my ankle to the bone.

As you may be aware you cannot see the Matrix due to the dash/facia, its hidden, although if you remove the centre consul you can just see the two aluminium pipes that connect to it. I could not tell whether the seals had broken, there did not seem very much coolant at these pipe connections.

I have just finished removing the whole dash/facia, I can see coolant along the lower side of the Matrix, so I'm presuming its blown  - enjoyable job, will put some pictures up for you to see when I'm done.

Here's my first question if somebody could advise, what is the OEM manufacture of the Heater Matrix for the Omega, mine a 1998 Elite 2.5 V6, as I'm going to buy and put a new one in. After taking the dash/facia out its the least I want to do.

Cheers for any feed back.

Omega General Help / Tracking and Camber adjustment
« on: 13 June 2016, 13:51:27 »
Hi, I know there are a lot of discussions and topics on this subject.

I have taken my car to two or three garages over the past 10 years, but just like every other garage, when you start asking and trying to discuss technical information, there's a shut down in two way conversation.

* What's first the tracking or the Camber adjustment

* Can I see the angles on the computer please before adjustment, can you explain what's what.

* Which side needs adjustment

* What bolts on the strut are you going to undo, top or bottom

* How are you going to do the bolts up? Haynes manual Stage 1/stage 2

*** I had to change a strut 6 months after an adjustment, and when I cam to undo the Strut bolts, they had not been done up properly. Enough to suggest that overtime the camber would move.*********

Any one know of the FREE CHECK garage before you decide to have the camber done - AREA M25 Junction 19 25mile Radius?

cheers for any suggestions welcome

Omega General Help / Rear Window loose on Omega B Saloon
« on: 08 May 2016, 21:41:34 »
Anyone had a rear window screen come loose on a saloon, anyone recommend any autoscreen repairers.

So there is no issues when the fixer comes along I have removed the surrounding plastic trim around the rear screen, and I am just removing the parcel shelf. I have removed all the fixings for the headrests and plastic bits on the lip, the 3 x 10mm nuts but I cannot see the 3 white plastic clips which was referred in the strip out procedure, anyone got a picture of them. Will look again tomorrow.

cheers for any advice

Hi, just noticed my earth cable has taken a bit of a battering, freyed against the side of the battery. Going to replace it, can someone please tell me where goes and finishes up. It seems to disappear behind the steering pump, then the plastic cowling - next to the large water inlet pipe. I will check the starter motor.

thank you for any info, did look at the posts, could not find anything, pictures would be good too.

thank you

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / TECH 2
« on: 31 January 2015, 14:10:06 »
I am sure this subject arises all the time, the Tech 2 unit used on the Omega B, where can I get one cheep, anybody.

Initial need is to turn off the airbag warning light I have had on for years, came on after I disconnected the drivers door airbag sensor, although Vauxhall told me to disconnect it again and reconnect - don't know if that's viable.

Would it also allow me to clear and or reset the codes in my Bose head unit

thanks for your input.

Omega General Help / V6 2.5 Multiram - Air Flow Pipe Configuration
« on: 28 November 2012, 14:56:03 »
Hi, I believe I have mixed up the V6 Multiram - Air Flow Pipe Configuration - while changing my Auxilary Drive Belt/Serpentine belt, those little pipes that I would call Vacum pipes coming out of the front, right hand side and to the bottom of the Multiram.

I know most are obvious but the ones on the top could get mixed and I wondered if there was a picture so I could double check, thank you.

Also I may have broken the switch behind the multiram about half way down, which has a white vacum pipe connection, can anyone tell me what this is called please.

cheers

Omega General Help / Auxilary Drivebelt Picture 2.5 & 3 litre
« on: 27 November 2012, 13:11:38 »
Hi, is there a picture of the Auxilary Drivebelt route on here for 2.5 and 3 litre engines.

Mine dissapeared into oblivion on the M4 along with the tensioner pulley, everything appears ok as I stopped for a spot of late night hard shoulder vehicle spotting, with footwell mat, otherwise my ass would be wet.

I can just about see most in the Baynes correction manual, but it would be nice to see the actual picture.

Tensioner, Alternator, Water Pump, Steering Pump, Air Con and Crank

thank you

Omega General Help / Secondary Air Injection Pump (SAIP)
« on: 12 September 2012, 10:30:30 »
My Secondary Air Injection Pump is screaming on startup too, this is the Unit under the Front Passenger Side Wing next to the Horns.

I read on here, some are saying remove it from the vehicle, I have been told by Steve at Omega Spares that that is not a good idea. Apparently, on start up the unit takes warm air from the exhaust manifold, and uses this info to shut off the cold start procedure, incorporating the EGR, which is part of the engine management process.

Omega General Help / Gear Change Difficult - 24V-V6-2.5-Manual
« on: 04 September 2012, 11:19:32 »
Hi, had this for about a month, and getting worse.

Finding it difficult to change gear, wondered at first whether it needed a new clutch, but as yet have no clutch slip or odd reving associated with clutch wear.

Always had a minor-slight difficulty engaging 2nd gear, but now 1st is effected , possibly 3rd.

DId think about adjusting gear linkage first, but needs some special tool km631A - or is there another method without tool.

Looked on forum for related issues, but could not find any.

Any help on this is appreciated

cheers

Omega General Help / 2.5 V6 Diff change
« on: 29 February 2012, 20:52:43 »
Hi, got to change my diff, making awfull rumble sound, checked the rear wheels for movement and noise so dont think it is the wheel bearings. Also leak from rear drive shaft-diff on drivers side, sounds a bit clonky when I get hold of the drive shaft and turn.

My first question really is what is the Diff ratio on my 2.5 manual V6 24v, its a S reg 98 elite, and is there any identification info on the diff and do the 2.5 auto's use the same diff as I can get one of them now.

thankyou

Hi, has anybody had this before, when turning right only I get the left wheel juddering - jumping, I have tried to find this problem, but can not put my finger on whats causing it.

The car is an Omega 1998 2.5Elite, nearly all the suspension has been replaced prior to this happening and some new things after.

It has had new wishbones both sides, new front struts, new drop links, new Lh and RH outer tie rod assemblys, new wheel bearings and discs, steering Idler Arm. Full tracking and Camber check too.

It has not had any anti role bar bushes replaced, and the steering box is the original?
Checked the LH SIde strut spring for breakage - thats ok.

I even put the car in for MOT when this was happening hopeing they would find it, and the car sailed through. Then after a month of trying to find out what it was again, went back to the same garage, explained the problem, they reported back they could hear it and feel it but could not find any problem and what was causing it.

Appreciate any ideas you may have.

thanks

Just bought an Early Philps Carin Sat Nav System second Hand, to Install in my Elite 2.5 1998 model. Have Display, Nav Control Unit (CD player), Mult-Func-Switch, Speaker, Antenna and most of the loom.

The loom has been cut at the extra wires that come out of the 6 pin plug which is down at the passenger footwell. Also missing are the wires that I beleive run through the bulk head to the battery/relay?, two have been cut near the 6-pin plug. I do have information sent to me by a very helpfull guy which i have yet to fully check.

Any further wireing diagrams would be helpfull and pictures of the fitting-re wireing process would be of great help. I will also take my own pictures and post here as I begin to fit. One other important question that i need answering concerns the multi function display, is my current one ok with the sat nav that i have or do i need the original. This is probably an important point before i start.

thankyou for any help, regards Dave
