when Kevin had his Tech2 attached it was noted that the alarm and powersounder were both registered as open circuit.

I think they must have been disconnected by the previous owner as the key fob didnt work so every time he unlocked the door with the key, off goes the alarm!  >:(

I took a peek under the scuttle to see if it was obvious if the connectors were pulled off, i could only see one and it looked like it was on, so is there a fuse or other breaker that could have been removed to shut them up?

I cant imagine both are faulty, im not that worried about having the alarm, just like to have things working if they are on the car!   :)

Im just thinking (as you do) about upgrading the CCR 2006/Bose in my Elite but what sort of budget would be needed to make a ~noticable~ difference?

To be honest, i cant knock the factory system, very nice separation and clarity, good tight bass and plenty of volume, and of course its all integrated nicely.

I know its a complete speaker/head unit change, plus wiring too id imagine, the good news i would think is you could mount an amp where the bose one is, i wouldnt want a boot full of sub either, something nice and stealthy!

Am mainly thinking of the swap as i had a Blaupunkt MP68 in my old Mondeo which had bluetooth phone and mp3/usb connections, would be nice to have those features :)

Any suggestions?

Cheers!

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / CCR 2006 problem
« on: 18 July 2009, 19:16:14 »
Hi there

Im getting no left speakers at all on my Bose/CCR2006 system, unless i pull the front panel off the unit slightly!

It looks like theres been an issue with it before, as the panel comes off quite easily, and i can see where the miltipin connector thingy attaches with the main unit.

The weird thing is, if its pressed on tight all the buttons work but no left speakers, pull it out slightly and the speakers come back but then you cant use the volume on the unit etc! Its almost like the front panel is shorting out the speakers, the unit doesnt move though, so i dont think its an issue with the connections on the back.

Any ideas, or worth just swapping for another unit, i would prefer the 1 cd/changer version anyway, i presume fleabay is the answer? Would like to keep stock look, unless aftermarket would be cheaper?

Cheers! Lee

Omega General Help / pretty nasty oil leak
« on: 12 February 2010, 17:58:28 »
Hi all

When i went to get my oil and filter changed the other day the garage pointed out to me ive got a bad oil leak, its coming down from one side of the head gasket area on my 3.0 V6, am i right in thinking its a cam cover issue?

When James V6 CDX came and did my cam belt he noted at the time there was a bit of a leak and there was oil in some of the plug holes, i didnt do the job at the time and its one of those things ive just forgotten about :( The breathers werent blocked in the slightest, so im guessing its just an age thing as its done 90k now and is 10 years old.

Ive had to put in 1 litre of oil in 10k miles so its not too dramatic but its probably best to get them done now eh? Or any other suggestions?

Omega General Help / low coolant level
« on: 14 December 2009, 18:14:30 »
So the low coolant level warning came on tonight, checked the car out and level is normal, so this mean a new coolant bottle or can you replace the sensor seperately?

Any ideas on costs?

Cheers!

Omega General Help / Headlamp adjustment
« on: 06 August 2009, 21:56:38 »
After taking my headlamps off and swapping the HID servos over i put them back in and the beam alignment is way off!

I suppose i could take it to a garage for an official alignment but any tips on getting it "almost right"  :D ;)

Ive found the "outer" screw that moves the lense up and down, so have sorted that out ( i think ), what does the "inner" screw adjust? The horizontal? Which way do you need to turn it to move the light beam to the left?

Cheers!

Omega General Help / Anyone want a free towbar for an Omega?
« on: 02 August 2009, 18:59:29 »
There is a catch!  :o

You need to come take it off my Omega first! I dont really have the tool collection to take it off myself, but if you want one, in what seems good condition, and you are near Wilts/Somerset, send me a PM and we can work out the details.

I will even help you remove it (if i can!)

Cheers

Hi guys

The car been running lovely, however this morning starting from cold it was missing every so slightly for about 20 secs and you could smell petrol, then it cleared and all was well. It drove perfect and after a few hours i restarted it and again, a slight smell of petrol and a slight miss, but cleared up a lot quicker.

I have James coming out to do the service and cambelt but in the meantime anything i should check?

If you are in the South Wilts/Dorset/East Somerset area i highly recommend taking your Omega to the Salisbury branch of Tyreland for full geometry checking/adjusting.

Ive been looking for ages for a localish place to take mine, as the steering wheel was slightly off centre and there was a pull to the left and i found their name as a recommendation on an Alfa forum of all things  :-[.

No appointment needed, the guy talked me through what they do, they use Hunter equiptment there, which im told is pretty good. No hard sell, he knew all about the Omega and its special needs  ;D and after checking my car out, it was found to be way out on the front and rear toe and front right camber.

45 mins and £69 later, all sorted, with a before and after print plus another detailed explanation of what they did and why.

All in all, very impressed and its made such a difference to the car.

And just to make it clear, i in no way work or know anyone there, just wanted to give a recommendation as i know a good garage is hard to find!

Cheers

Is this a key fob sync issue or something else to take a look at?

Omega General Help / Do all Elites have sat nav?
« on: 14 July 2009, 19:56:31 »
I was browsing through the old posts on here ( as you do ) when i came across a comment from an admin that suggested all post 98 elites came with sat nav.

Im just in the process of buying a facelift 2000 elite 3.0 and im fairly sure it doesnt, it has the "big text" info screen and i cant see anywhere else the nav would be?

Also, theres a Traffic Master button on the dash next to the lights, i have no idea what it does, can someone enligten me please :)

Hi

I dont have enough posts for the parts section, hopefully im not being too cheeky to post this here :)

Im looking for a n/s headlamp for my Omega, facelift with the HID system, my one has a slight leak which means water is inside and i have a feeling the leveling motor might be siezed too - by the look of it someone has had a fiddle in the past and broke off some of the plastic clips.

Anyway, please let me know if you have one in good nick and what you want for it.

Im also looking for a VGC CCR2006 that is from a Bose set up preferably, so i swap straight in, dark grey colour facia prefered :)

Cheers!

Hi all.

Its sadly time to say goodbye to my Omega, ive got another job that involves a commute 140 miles per day and its just not practical to keep my Mig when doing that kind of mileage. Also, my other half refuses to drive an auto, dont ask me why, so its a real pain when we are out on a long trip and i need a break!

So, on to the details!

Its a 2000 3.0 Elite, will all the usual toys (except sat nav), everything works inside except the rear blind and the drivers heated seat, both common issues and ive never been that worried about it to be honest. Also, the glove box handle has come off, i have the broken one which you can use it open it, i believe its a very cheap part to place though.

Front & Rear electric windows
Full leather interior
Power driver and passenger seats, memory on drivers
Electric sunroof
Remote central locking
Bose Audio system with 4 disc CD changer
Climate control for driver and passenger (ice cold!)
Multi function display (no missing pixels)
Heated front and rear seats (drivers not working)
Self leveling rear suspension (in good working order)

4 x nearly new Avon ZV5 235/45 17 tyres, 5-6mm tread left, alloys in reasonable condition, no major marks on them.

It has 96k on the clock and has done 18k in the last year without missing a beat. The MOT is about due and to be honest i dont really want to spend any money on it, i have another car now and really need the space. I had my local mechanic give it the once over and he said the front wishbones will need to be replaced but he didnt see anything else as an issue. Of course, you are welcome to come inspect it and make your own mind up, ive nothing to hide. It runs and drives very nice, the only other thing im aware of is the rocker gaskets are weeping - the breathers are all ok and the car has been well serviced, see below - but they will need to be done sooner rather than later.

Bodywork is very tidy for its year, there are some scratches and dings but nothing major, it does have some rust starting on the rear arches, shocker eh!, but would be easily fixable.

Interior is in lovely condition with no marks, rips or tears on the leather, carpets are excellent and overall its very nice indeed! At some point someone has pulled the front off the CD changer but it works fine, changes discs etc, sounds excellent!

I have almost the complete history of the car, which will be detailed below :

I have all the MOTs from 2005 to now, the current one runs out on July 20th 2010. Tax is out at the end of July 2010.

Full Vauxhall service history to July 2005, where there was 47k on the clock.

7/05 Full service + 2 tyres  £300
8/05 Wheel alignment  £34.98
12/05 Plugs & Coil pack   £175
03/06 Replace front pads  £58
06/06 Trace fault under drivers seat  £101.05
06/06 Trace fault with wipers  £24.68
03/07 Replace PAS pump  £275
07/07 Oil and Filter change  £32.75
06/07 Front discs and pads  £149.68
06/07 MOT (66396 miles) £50.35
08/07 Replace Aux belt and tensioner £168.03
06/08 MOT (74124 miles)  £50.35
03/08 Replace rear pads, front wishbones £346.94
03/08 4 x tyres £317.71
03/08 Oil and filter change £29.99
02/09 Replace plugs/leads/coil pack  £317.63

I then took ownership in July 2009, where i did the following :

JamesV6CDX came out and did a full service, including oil and filter, plugs, air filter, cabin filter, fuel filter and checked breathers.  He replaced the auto trans fluid and cleaned the filter. Coolant was replaced. He replaced the cam belt and tensioners and also did the water pump at the same time. The mileage was just under 80k and that service cost me £500, im sure James will support my comments that its a nice car :)

Full geometry and alignment done, print out to show, £69.50, i also put 4 x Goodyear Eagle F1s on the car, they are of course replaced now with the Avons.

I had an oil and filter change done in Feb which cost £45.

So there you have it! I know i could get 12 months MOT on it and do the wishbones etc, but i just done have the inclination or the time. Im selling at a very reasonable price, if i get no interest here i'll just put it on ebay with a 99p start and no reserve, im open to any inspection of the car, it is what it is and i think for what im asking you wont be disappointed!

Please PM me if you have any questions, the car is in Frome, North Somerset if you want to come take a look, its not being driven at the moment and im usually around in the evenings or weekends, would like to shift it this week if i can though :) I have 2 keys, owners book and the car pass.
£850 a pretty firm price, depends if you come wave cash in front of me =)
