Cambelt, tensioner and water pump. Anything else?
« on: 10 September 2013, 23:23:54 »

My car is going to be off the road for around a month or so now while I'm away working so I plan to leave it to my mechanic and have some work done. Have already got the cambelt, tensioner, water pump and fan belt. Are there any other jobs I should look into getting done while he's in there. The cam cover gaskets have been done around 2-3 months ago as have the coilpacks and new plugs in. Have been getting some fairly low readings on the temp. gauge so was thinking of getting the thermostat done as well and my starter is starting to  mess about so will prob get that checked out also. Obviously I'll get the filters and fluids changed as well but is there anything I'm forgetting about or overlooking

Probably worth changing the Thermostat while He's got he's head in there, and check for oil leaks around the Rocker / Cam Covers and clean Breathers etc :y

Talking about cam belts etc, what exactly are the service intervals for their replacement. I have heard various versions from 40k to 80k and 4 years to 8 years.
