self opening drivers door

drivers door keeps coming open now and again  :-\ :-\  anybody know the cause

yes it shuts ok ,, but it just  randomly opens on you

My Smart used to do the same thing ... it also used to lock you in on occasion too. A replacement lock sort it ...... a far far easier task on an Omega  ;)

It will be the mech in the door. Just replace it. Reliable enough a 2nd hand one will do.

Yep, replace the mech, x missus had a flying drivers door that used to open on corners on her 2.2.

Sadly she did wear a seat belt.

I got a text from the buyer of my old Elite, telling me that the drivers door had opened at 100mph on the way home... never did it to me, so it must not have liked him.

On my pre-facelift the interior handle got a bit stiff - I sometimes had to push it home again after opening the door.

I think water can sometimes get past the tail end of the rubber across the bottom of the window, and can then drain onto the mechanism causing it to rust then either seize or wear excessively.

Repeatedly shutting the door with the seat belt clip in the way is unlikely to do it any favours either ::)
