I had to take a BMW trailing arm to an engineering shop with a 100 tonne press, the guy said even that was struggling to get the bearing out but it popped eventually

That must have gone with a good bang.

With bushes I just hole saw out the rubber then quick hacksaw through the outer ring and knock it out, rarely take the complete arm off the car.
