That said, just before Christmas, I was getting multiple phone calls a day from "BT" telling me my internet was slow, and they talked me through installing Teamviewer or similar.  Best I managed was 20 minutes before they hung up

But for those less savvy, if anyone cold calls saying there is an issue, hang up, and then call a friend (to ensure they haven't seized the line open), then call the company direct. Be it internet, banks, insurance, whatever. Or ignore it.

Note, its dead easy to spoof phone numbers, so don't use that as a source of security.

I'm getting quite a few calls purporting to be from Amazon over the last few weeks. Just hang up. Can't even tell them to eff orf as it's a bloody recording.

This is good advice, to make sure that the connection is cut.

Had the scam Amazon call this afternoon , after winding the caller up for several minutes they hung up on me, the best one was a few months ago I played along with them for a while but they must have taken offence before saying " You think you're a clever motherfu**er" and hanging up on me. I would dearly love to get my hands on these scheming bastards.
