I'm driving down to Stansted to pick up my son and his partner this afternoon, a round trip of about six hours. They are arriving from Morocco and, as you've probably heard, there was quite a large earthquake last night. So I've been up all night trying to reassure them that everything will be fine, so I'll be a wee bit tired later 

They are flying from Ouarzazate on Ryanair, I just hope the flight goes ahead as I think they are both a bit shook up. Shook up.......get it? 😁

According to FR24, the outward bound plane from Stansted is just crossing into Spain. Looking at a three-hour delay at least.

Meanwhile, the youngsters have landed, and with no sign of Uncle STEMO have opted to get the train into London and onwards Oop Norf.

Got home about half an hour ago, was greeted by a massive thunderstorm. Couldn't see ten feet in front of me, just what I needed after 6 hours behind the wheel.
But they are home safe and sound, that's all that matters.

You should have carried on a bit further along the A120 and spent a couple of hours remembering your mispent youth in Colchester. 
Its as big a shithole as Stortford these days btw.

Just a thought for the future. (After talking to a taxi driver mate) Some good flight tracking apps available Depararture/arrival time tracking, may save a long wait (and parking fees)  and take a packed lunch with a flask save a small fortune on airport prices..

Yes, I use such an app, and they are usually very accurate. I can track the flight from take off to landing.
I didn't go near the airport, the parking fees were extortionate. Hence the reason I parked up at Bishop's Stortford railway station, one stop down the line...£6.

Also don't be a tightwad moron when going to an airport. Use a car park. It will always be cheaper than paying the fines for red line infringements. Some are actually free to park at for a couple of hours, Gatwick Long stay for example...2-5 minute bus to the terminal and no hassle. If you need longer due to delays, start at the nearest large supermarket.
