wheels should be silver, and if the bodywork looks as mint in real life as it does in that photo after 21,000 miles i would be suspicious of either ex track bike or crash repair, which is ok if done properly and you know what your buying at the appropriate price. Closer examination will reveal more.

No more than 2k imo, do not buy if your even close to being tall, try zx9 c1 or younger and upgrade the suspension with the saving, r1 bars are too low and close with too short a wheel base for tall people, like me sadly.

If you ride it fast enough the adrenalin will take away the pain. :y :D ;D
The last time I rode one was in Ireland a couple of years ago - twisty road, heavy drizzle, bald rear tyre = exciting. ::) :)
Anyway the bike is worth about £50 but I will happily give you £500 for it. :y ;D ;D

LSG - I would say that if you are buying it with the intention of getting a licence and riding it, its far from an ideal first bike. You would probably scare the bejaysus out of yourself pretty quickly.
A bloke I used to work with bought one as his first bike, gave it a big handful of throttle once and then sold it, he never bought another bike and imo was lucky he didnt kill himself. ;)

As others have said, looking at the wheels, I reckon its been messed with.  Buyer beware :y

Always fancied an R1 myself, but if I bought one, reckon Mrs TheBoy would do the 'wall of death' around the living room ;D

The bloke reckons he is over 60. He's offered me the bike, a 2002 bmw 318 Ci and some cash for the SAAB  :-/

People often do a bit of customising like spraying the wheels a different colour to make their bike a bit different, there are so many R1,s around if you go to a race meet it would be hard to find your in the car park if they were left standard. That colour seems a popoular choice as iirc its the colour of the wheels on the M1 race bikes.I dont think it indicates a problem necessarily.

If I were you Dell I would HPI check it, get someone who knows their way around bikes to have a close look at it, and then study MCN and Bike Trader websites to get an idea of what its worth. :y
