« on: 05 May 2009, 20:49:55 »

.... Cavalier convertible.
Just wanted to post a few pics for you of my girlfriends soft top Cavalier.
This was on show at the Weston Under Lizard classic car show last month and will be at Trentham gardens near Stoke next month.

Hope you like it :y :y

She's had the car since 2003 and is the 3rd owner, It has only done 98,000 miles to date and is a 1987 D reg.

It makes you feel old when cars that you drove as company cars (Cavalier Estates) are now attending classic car shows, albeit in a more specialist version...........  :'( :'( :'(

What makes me feel old is when I visit a classic car auction (like I did a few weeks ago in Buxton) and see my first ever car there - Triumph Vitesse - now selling for 10 times more than I paid for it!!  :'( :'(

If only I hadn't hit that tree in Blackpool  ::)

Not many Cavalier estates left now, but this was the only one at the show and i think a lot of time and money was spent.

I know the guy with the Estate :) him and his wife are 2 of our bestest friends.. :)
They used to live 3 miles away from us and we were always at each others houses.
They moved down Staffordshire a few years back so we dont get to see them as often now :(

He also has another  MK2 Cav and an Omega Elite (which has the Irmscher Kit very nice).
His wife has a tidy Vectra  :)

The whole family are Vauxhall mad and yes a lot of time and effort goes into their cars. ;)

I recognise that Estate..... Could be the fact its parked on my drive lol

I bought it 4 years ago off fleabay for £166...1 owner from new 63k FSH! It was totally standard when i got it but was almost as perfect as it is now. I haven't spent a massive amount on it to be honest, only purchase i had to have was the 84 Cav SRi recaro interior in beige. It came out a car that had only done 25k at the time so is like new not a scuff or tear anywhere. Only bit i couldnt get was the doorcards so i bought some pigskin leather and light tan alcantara and made my own using the original dk grey cards.
Im using it as my daily driver at the mo and it will be at PVS and billing as usual this year. I run it for 6 months over spring summer then its mothballed and the Omega comes back out to play. As Missy MV6 says, i've also got an 88 SRi130 in the garage too. I've always owned Cavs, and apart from 2 years when i had a MK3 GSi there have been MK2's in the family.

Just to make it worse my lads just turned 17 and he's bought an 82,  2 door saloon Chevette!!! 30k genuine milage too. Seems im a bad influence when it comes to cars lol

Pics of how it was when i bought it below.

How many!  :-?
I've had a licence for 30 years and have had transport of some kind for almost all those years - a couple of months break after I wrote off my Mk I Cavalier Coupe - and I now currently own both my 7th & 8th car (and 3rd motorbike ;))! You must get bored easily with your cars .... what the longest you've kept a car ..... & obviously what's the minimum time you've had one?  :y
It amazes me how you can get through so many cars.  :o

Well i drive for a living and do about 70,000 miles a year and it's my own car i do it in so thats why i've had so many Omega's.
The longest i've owned a car is 3 and a half years and i've just bought a Mazda MX5 which when on the way home from the garage that i bought it from, thought i dont like this and now it's up for sale.
I think that most members on here will agree with me that you can test drive a car and it will feel great and looks good and then you buy it but then after a week or two and that long Sunday drive you think that the drivers seat is not that comfortable as you thought and then you start to find other things you dont like and then next thing you know it's up for sale.
The thing is with second hand cars no two are the same but it may take a few weeks of driving it to find out what you do and dont like about and just going for a test drive you never get to know this :)
