First off.....check the conintental dippers are not set, there is a lever behind the full beam bulb (remove the rubber cover)....

Adjustment requires care so you dont end up with an MOT failure....

I assume the headlight level swicth is set to 0.....

Yup, it is set to 0..... and the continental levers are off, so i got the "angled" beam for our roads...... I only want to bring it up a tad. Its noticeably lower than when i had my Focus

Do you have self levelling lights, or do you have a level wheel on the headlamp switch. If self levellers then maybe you have a poorly sensor!!!!

Ok....drive upto a wall or garage door and get nice and close.....place some short pieces of tape on the wall/door where the bright spot is on the light (the point where the beam starts to turn upwards).

Reverse the car straight back 3-4 meters and then adjust the headlight aim so that the same part of the beams are pointing at the tape marks again.

Notes:

1) You must only adjust the headlights using the hex adjuster on the front top edge of the headlights
2) Turn the adjuster slowly!
3) Lube the metal rod that sits on top of the headlight well before starting
4) The outer adjuster is the vertical adjustment
5) the inner adjuster is the horizontal adjustment
6) Idealy do it with an empty tank of fuel!

This is a rough and ready method that I have had quite a lot of succes with (its passed MOTs twice on two attempts)

Cheers, will do that tomora. I thought it mite have been one of thos hex bolts, but wasn't sure which one. So i was playing with the horizontal then.... DOH! :-/

I assume a small turn is quite a big adjustment then?

Or possibly as you have a CD you have projectors with ordinary filament bulbs....which are rubbish....50% brighter bulbs help.....is it the range or just unbelievable dim??

Its quite geared down so it takes a few turns to get any effect.

Cheers, DTM. All done and can see further now   :y

And TAXI - i "had" the filament ones, but upgraded to HID aftermarket kit which is noticably better, but the range was just pants.
