Not a gearbox issue...
« on: 21 February 2007, 23:13:51 »

I've noticed on the 2.0, when slowing down and coming to a stop at lights etc, before I stop, there is like a "jerk" from the transmission which is felt through the whole car. It's not major, and you could live with it, but I was wondering if there is any cure.

I'm not sure if there would be time, and we'd need plenty of sheeting, but I was considering an autobox fluid change on Saturday, if time allows...

What does autobox fluid cost, along with replacement sump gaskets?

Any ideas about this issue? It's not a big problem, but definaltey noticable.

I was thinking fluid change.. or possibly get a later gearbox ECU and see if it can be flashed....

Anyone breaking meega's from 1998/9 onwards?

Sounds like it's the transmission shifting down into 1st ready to pull away. Maybe there's a bit of slack in the drivetrain that's accentuating it?
May be worth putting it into neutral and see how much slack there is in the propshaft with the handbrake on then compare it with another car?

Could be a bit of play in a UJ or backlash in the diff?

Probably not worth worrying about unless it's getting progressively worse.

Is this possible? I'd be very interested if it is....

Its certainly not plug and play as the ECU pinouts are different......not impossible though I suspect

Change the oil and go from there.

Check the oil change thread.
