Only went off for a few seconds....  Did startle me a bit as my head was a couple of inches away. 😆

Mine didn't chirp either.. The alarm went off while I was jiggling the connection.

If you unplug it with the key in the ignition it doesn't see it as unauthorised access so doesn't sound the alarm.  :y

Still, it's off now so a bit late with that information.  ;D

Excuse the ignorance on this, especially as I was there when you did mine :-[ but for future reference, do you just put the key in, or do you have to switch it on :)

When you are ready to unplug the powersounder, turn the ignition on so that the dash lights come on, turn ignition off and unplug the powersounder.  Think you get about fifteen seconds before the vehicle thinks it's being tampered with. No need to touch main battery terminals, although method shown by BIGtime is correct for main battery removal, there is no need to remove the terminals in this instance.  :y
