oh bugger...my car is dieing....!

last week the heater stopped working....only now blowing warmish air?

and now....the traction control light has come on aswell as the abs light is on, the speedo has stopped working and the power steering has become really heavy.....really strange this has all happened at the same time....


HELP.....!!!!!!!....please :-/

i will have a look at the fuses in the mornning.... but my wife first noticed the problem earlyer today but she said it only lasted about 20 mins then went back to normal....! i went to go to the shop a little while ago and as soon as i started the car the problem was there...?

Hi Nick....your ABS/TC ECU is knackered mate...replace it and you will get your power steering back, your speedo back and the lights will go out...you can get it repaired...or you can get one from a same year same model same gearbox type car...

Heater on the other hand may be lowon gas if aircon??

heater.....is climate control....

when set to cold will blow cold.... i know it's winter but i think it's working on cold....?

i do get a "coolant low" message now and again.... i top it up, run the engine with the filler cap off to get rid of any air locks.... or am i doing it wrong?

If your losing coolant and aircon isnt running right then quite possibly HBV (heater bypass valve) is leaking...

Repairing ECU about £100 or so I believe...as you have a facelift might be worth getting it fixed as may be hard finding a replacement I guess...its an awkward job to do but doable yourself, about 2 or 3 hours of fiddling if its your first time doing it, very frustrating as its just a matter of removing the 6 screws to remove the ECU!! :)

hope its not the HBV.....i changed this last year.....and nearly broke my wrist getting to the valve.....!!!

i dont notice any leaks on the floor....?

any idea where i'd send or take my ecu for repair?

is there a way of testing the ecu when it's still in the car?....

not that i'm saying your wrong.....i'd like to know for certain before i start ripping the motor apart......!!!!!!!1

as your in hayes, isnt there a place near the airport that break omegas etc? you might get lucky & get one from them, i think they sell stuff on fleabay as well, either way there are specialist breakers on fleabay for miggys so might be worth using the "email the seller" option to enquire ;)

bba reman top of the list via google for abs ecu recon.

Check the hbv is not wet or showing residue for the coolent leak. If not your into the v of the engine for oil cooler cover plate, stat housing, or coolent bridge. It you still cant find the leak then try the metal coolent pipe at the back of the block  above the bell housing or core plugs in cylinder head around the back by dis pac.

No personal experience of the heater issue but would suggest checking the vacume pipes in engine bay. Esp the elbow on top of the hbv itself as this operates the heater vents i beleive. Guide in maintenance section for vac pipes.
