Battery/Starter/ Instruments Problem
« on: 04 February 2021, 18:07:55 »

Hiya all! hope everybody is safe and well.  :y
I had an issue with the battery/starter this morning as I had to go to the doc's. The solenoid only clicked but no turnover. I then checked battery voltage and that was just under 12.1 volt. Slow charged for an hour or so and everything seemed ok so turned starter and only solenoid clicking again.Tried again for a further 4 goes and it started! Left it running as my doc's appointment was due. Driving to the doc's I noticed I had no speedo/mph and both indicators were on (not flashing) . I left the car running when I saw the doc (just in case I could not get home) Coming back instruments were the same. Pulled lights module out and back in, no difference. I stopped engine when back home and tried the starter a few times, no problems but still no rev counter etc. I did isolate battery when charging! Any ideas guys? TIA

You need to unlock it with the remote, not the key to reset the alarm... Low battery voltages cause all sorts of gremlins ;)

Run Kevin's Battery/Alternator test and go from there...

A new battery could be in your future ;)

You left your omega running outside the doctors and it was still there when you came out? What does this tell us?  ;D

That the thieves stole the much more desirable car that was parked next to it? A UN-white Sandero perhaps?

LOL ;D typical OOF answers! I took my extra key with me to lock it up while it was running. And the carpark was the doc's private CP.
Anyhoo, just been out in the car and everything is back to normal again?? I have however ordered a new battery which I ordered on wednesday has just arrived. Not bad for the highlands of Scotland.(better delivery up here than in Brackley!!) ::)
Thanks again guys. The usual OOF rapid response team in action.  :y :y

Classic low voltage behaviour ;) when I acquired the barge the battery was so dead, a 40 mile drive home wasn't enough to start it again on the drive, and even with a new battery fitted it took two days to stop throwing up low voltage warnings ;D
