If you decat it will most likely fail the next mot on emishions and increase you mpg. It will sound sweet though.

On your multi metre there will be a setting that looks like a speaker. Normally next the the lowest ac volt setting. With this your 2 test cables should make a beeping noise when put together. You can now test each end of the cable to see if you get an audible beeb.

This will take a while to do so good luck.

Thank you  :)

When mine were going it would splutter with gentle acceleration. When I was at high revs or heavy acceleration the car was fine.

I also had a fault code of miss fire with the old flash codes on the dash.

Omega General Help / colour code

Can anyone help me with the location of the colour code.

Is it Z 20M that I found on the black label inside the drivers door.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Winter tyres
« on: 25 November 2015, 16:30:38 »
Hello everyone

A friend has given me some winter tyres.

They are 215 65 16 and I'm currently running 225 55 16 on standard CDX 2002 alloy wheels.

Has anybody tried this size out on an omega, will I get away with running them for the winter?  Or will the narrow but deeper tyre be a nightmare drive?
Also would I fit them on the front or the rear? I'm inclined to fit them on the front as braking and steering is more important than a bit of sideways panic on the early morning frosty commute.

Thanks
I would just buy new tyres but I'm skint  :'(

Omega General Help / My engine cut out.
« on: 27 June 2015, 10:57:35 »
Whilst at at some lights today my engine stalled and wouldn't restart straightaway. I managed to move to the side of the road using the starter motor.
I tried battery voltage and all was normal, then I plugged my obd in and it reported no fault codes. Then I waited 10 mins and tried again, it started and drove fine till I got home and then did another short trip and all fine.

Very confused.

Two days ago I was at some lights and the car randomly reved once and went back to odle, this then made the chav in the fiesta think I wanted to race him, Sadly I had a trailer on so didn't oblige though I probably could have beaten him  ;D     I think that may be related.

The car will be due its service soon but I'm sure that's not the problem as it's not overdue.

Any thoughts? I was listening under the bonnet after it stalled and could hear a relay clicking near the air intake?

Thanks

Omega General Help / engine/ gearbox mounts
« on: 02 June 2015, 18:17:55 »
I have some engine movement, so I'm assuming one or more of the mounts have got a little tired.

So my questions are, what's the common mount that goes or do I replace the lot whilst I'm wriggling under the car.

In one of the posts someone mentioned stabilising rams? Does the 2.6 have these fitted.

Is there or does anyone want to make a maintenance guide for the mounts? Or is it that obvious when I'm under the car.

Many thanks

Thanks for the advice everybody

I have self levelling rear suspension so I had no choice but to go GM really.  Others will recommend bilstien B4 /B6 as suitable substitutes on non SL cars I believe. But no doubt they'll be along shortly  :)

Edit: Also be mindful that you can through a lot of money very quickly at suspension rebuilds, and unless you do the WHOLE lot it's highly unlikely to be "perfect".  Depends how much of a perfectionist you are I guess  :y

I like perfection and have already changed top suspension mounts, anti roll bar for polly, wish bones for polly, ball joints, steering idler, track rods and tie bar, drop link. This month is suspension and brakes, and next month will be the rear end so I'm sure I'll be pestering you all again.  ;D

Right I must admit I've owned my omega for nearly 18 months but I am completely ignorant to the different models available.
My car is a 2002 2.6 v6 saloon CDX. Is this a Mv6??

The reason being is my suspension is tied, it's done 105k miles 30k done this year.
I live in speed bumb hell so stiff suspenshion isn't an option nor is a stupidly low car.
So after reading many posts on here of people saying swap for Mv6 or imerch ect I'm now completely lost.

I know omegas are no sports car and I enjoy the comfy ride when traveling from Bournemouth to Dundee on a regular basis, but I want to eliminate some body roll when I'm covering.

What's my best option on suspension, do I buy stock and hope the body roll I'm experiencing is due to tied parts or do I go for an upgrade and get slightly stiffer or lower parts.

I'm sure this is an age old debate on here but would love some advice please.

I must also say I regularly travel with a lot of weight and fitted spring bosts last year as the back end used to drop alot.

Thanks  :)
