Jaguar I-Pace Test Drive
« on: 14 February 2020, 09:16:00 »

No idea why Photobucket is daubed all over  the pictures. :( :(

Nice enough car in a sterile unemotional sort of way. Quite quick initially but breathless above 70 MPH.

The ideal car for people who have no interest in cars other than getting from A to B.

Is it quiet?

Breathless over 70 ? Not a problem unless you have a private test track.!  The motoring press world will have to come up with new phrases. E.g. weak current flow rather than breathless referring to carburation. Maybe electro heads will have words like linear, compound, direct, stepper, brushless peppered in reviews

Yes and no.

Because there is no engine noise you become more aware of tyre, wind, and road noise.

Overall not as quiet as I expected. Squeaks and rattles are more obvious too.

Photo No.7, looks like you've shut a tree in the drivers door. Very good optical delusion or trick photography on that one.   :) :y

I rather like them (then again I suppose I would  ;D). For me they would lose out to a Tesla purely because of the Tesla's dedicated and fast charging infrastructure.

That said the look and feel of the Jag is streets ahead of anything Elon has managed.

Am I on my own in thinking that a £65k+ car that's less than 6m old shouldn't HAVE any squeaks or rattles?! My milk float cost less than half that and I'd still be displeased if it started making unwanted noises.at only about a year old.  ::)

MY XFR had a sunroof rattle that used to drive me crazy. Finally solved it by closing the roof fully and then just open it the smallest amount. Since then no rattles in the car which seems to use better materials, be be better screwed together than the £78000 I-Pace. Far faster too.......although similar to 60 MPH.

Techy stuff is from the time of the dinosaurs when compared to the electric jobby. This is fine by me because I am a neanderthal at heart.

Taxi white and wedding car white just doesn't do it for me. Is white even a colour?

I thought we were talking about miles per hour, not parsecs per nanosecond. ;)

Shouldn't the reg be USB?

There are plenty of far more interesting ways to get around, especially at the sort of money they cost...

.

Definitely couldn't agree more, looks a totally non descript vehicle & the colour doesn't do it any favours.

A big 4x4 is on my future list, but it won't be a JLR product. Might even be left hand drive ::)

In the meantime, I have no immediate intention of buying another car produced in this century, with the likely exception of said 4x4...
