Title: WANTED: Carbon canister and Purge valve V6
Post by: Diamond Black Geezer on 22 August 2016, 08:18:35
As above, not sure if it makes a difference between 4-pot and V6, but it's for a V6. Smell of petrol on startup appears to be this, and this weekend it's the biiig service, so best try and sort one for then. All it needs to be is a known good one. New old stock in box would be acceptable, too  :y

Can't tell whether it's the carbon canister or the purge valve at fault, so might as well get both.  :)

Thanks in advance.

You got a pic of the carbon canister mate? Mite have one in the garage if it's what I think it is.

Thanks  :) It's really one of those 'it might be, might not be' things, sadly only way of knowing is to swap and cross fingers.

I'd have to get the wing off to get a pic of mine, but I'll try and have a google. Was hoping a mate local would have one in his 'spares bin' but not looking like it.

Looks like a machine gun magazine with two in/outlets.

sorry, only picture I can find! Other Vauxhalls seem to be similar, however contemporary Luton products (Vectra B, Corsa B, Astra F etc) seem to be like this...

You have a pm mate.  The one I have seems to have the pruge valve already inside as it has two pipes going into it. If you reply to my pm I will send a pic of it.

So far.. no smell of Tescos finest motor spirit in the cabin! Will give it a few more days to confirm, but looks like the purge valve was the fault!  :y
