Any variance should be communicated to your insurance company.
And going lower than manufacturer's specs on load rating or speed rating may cause issues if unfortunate enough to make a claim.

The "wrong" wheels for a given model, but still a valid Omega wheel/size, is far less likely to be noticed.

Certainly, for piece of mind, my Irmscher Sportstars (a dealer fit option) are a declared mod on my insurance.

Thanks for all the feedback.
Why would someone have fitted 16" wheels if the originals were 17"?
I'm really not keen to go out and buy 4 new 17" wheels so will tell the insurance company what's happened. And maybe ask the previous owner...  ???

Last owner probably needed four new tyres and found a second hand set of 16's with part worn tyres cheaper than a set of new tyres so bought them and sold the 17 inch wheels.

I also note from your original post that the front tyres are wider than the rears on your current fitment, that is illegal and an mot fail as the wider/larger tyre should be on the rear axle :y
