Title: CD Changer
Post by: Matchless on 17 May 2007, 14:15:51
Just been playing, trying to get a CDC-2 working in the project car.
The original unit has had too many attempts at entering the code so is locked. Laidback gave me another unit but this has a dead micro controller.
Does anyone know if there is a way of recovering from the CD 0 state?, It would likely need access to the micro board or a secret-squirrel combination of button pushes to put it in a service mode.

Alternatively does anyone have a unit with a player fault that they dont want? ie it still talks to headunit and has code but perhaps has a faulty laser?

I've got one with 0 tries left.  Took it to a local decoding / car hifi place who told me that once they get to 0 then it's back to Vx for an exchange unit / new one

No, good idea imho.  Whats the point of a security code if it can be continuously reset?  10 attempts is more than enough...

Can the magic tech2 not work any magic on it?
I bet someone has a workaround.

Nope, Tech2 cannot bypass security systems.

I know there is a place near here than can find codes reasonably

When we bought the wife's there were a variety of codes written in various places, but none worked,
code down to code5, before going back to dealer, who sent us to this back street place, http://www.rdsaudio.co.uk/info.html
Despite it having the hour long wait on, he could do it pretty much instantly.  may be worth a phone call.

If they can do it, I could easily take the unit if you posted it to me (or human chain at the lakes), then send it back.

The online code databases are only any good when there are still 'lives' left...

Except when the previous muppet owner is entering the RADIO code into the CD.

Father in law had just bought a 51 plate vectra, 4 disk changer in the glovebox.
No code
got car pass (dealer sourced it)
Code is wrong, So they send him down to RDS.

RDS say, ahh they take a while these, give us a day or 2.
He goes back today, they have the code.
He asked em if they can ressurect locked units....."no problem" came the reply ;)

May be worth a phonecall for the cost.

or you can try the old favorite of putting it in a bag in the freezer for a few days, seemed to work with the old ford radio a few years back.
