How repairable is something like this?
« on: 18 December 2015, 21:20:25 »

Looking for a Double DIN stereo to replace the one I've broken in the MV6...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CLARION-DOUBLE-DIN-SIZE-CD-MP3-USB-IN-WORKS-BUT-DISPLAY-VOLUME-PROBLEM-/221949135621?hash=item33ad330b05:g:mZcAAOSwcBhWU0zX

 - if I buy it, will it cost more than a new one to fix?

I have a very similar* one fitted in the Special and its terrific...

*but not broken

It might be an easy fix, problem is, listings on eBay under the spares or repairs title are just that, could be a brick, and you've got no come back through eBay or PayPal..

How many times do we read, don't know what the problem is, could be an easy fix, probably a loose wire, which all could another way of the seller saying, fukced if I could get the thing to work.

Might give Dave DND a call and see what he thinks. If it's going to be as much as a new unit, then there's no point... but then I am tighter than a tight thing so if it's a possible easy fix then I'm tempted. :y

Looking at the seller, he sells and repairs in-car equipment, ask yourself why hasn't he repaired the unit.

Something where half the display is working, and half not, is very unlikely to be repairable, IME.

That is an excellent point, I didnt look past the original listing.

Thank you chaps, shall give it a miss, and save the pennies for a fully working one...

I know the seller very well - If he is selling it, then it has either a significant or very expensive fault !!
