For any Islay malt drinkers, Lidl have Ben Bracken at under £18, just trying my first dram, it is one of the peatier ones, probably from one of the southern distilleries, I love it. :y

Ben Bracken? Is that a made up name..... maybe a Lidl brand?

Nice one, I must check to see if we have it over here as the Irish seem to lump a tarrif on Scottish Malts pricing them way above the Irish equivelants.
I used to visit Bunnahabhain and Bowmore distilleries back in the early 80's to service and calibrate their process instrumentation , sadly before I discovered my love of a good malt .

No doubt, but a nice Islay malt. :y

Bourbon or Bushmills. Nothing that comes from east of County Antrim thankyou. :P ;D

Still got an unfinished bottled of the Islay (Green label) left over from Christmas. Seemed pretty good to me.
Ben Bracken is certainly some kind of made up "branding name" so that it's not too obvious that it's from from Lidl. A great many customers are closet brand snobs. If you're just going to sit at home in front of the TV and drink, then sod the label, but if you have guests, even family guests, this looks better than "Tesco Finest Islay Malt".

Any good with Ginger Ale?
Only way to treat he foul stuff IMO. :o

I shall have to treat myself to a bottle for research purposes and suffer having to drink a dram or two to see if it is as good as you are suggesting. ;) ;) ;)
I do enjoy the rich Islay malts. :y :y :y

Enjoy it, I did am. ::) It is strange how one's taste changes, as a yoof, I thought JW Red Label was the bits, moved to Scotland, and acquired a taste for the Highland Malts, then my taste buds emigrated to the Islands, settling on Islay malts as my favourite, although I still find Laphroaig a little extreme. I could only drink Red Label in extremis now, although JW Black Label is nice, and clearly has some Islay in it. :y

Reading this lot has just reminded me that i've still got half a bottle of Jura in the cupboard :-* :-*

Not really a big fan of whisky, or whiskey for that matter.
However, I enjoyed a tot of Laphroaig recently. That seemed to have a 'peaty' taste.
