How hard is it to find an under desk set of drawers?
« on: 28 September 2015, 18:25:09 »

I'm drawing a blank :(

All I want is a pedestal/set of drawers that (just) fit under a standard office desk, in beech, ideally 4 drawer.

How hard can it be?  I can find plenty of desk high ones, and plenty of short ones (leaving wasted space between drawers and desk). None that are the right height.

Any gems of wisdom?

Don't think you'll get a 4 drawer set under a desk TBH

More realistic would be to find a 2-3 drawer set...

Have you tried IKEA..?

I have a 4 drawer one that's perfect. I just need another, but Dams International don't do them any more :(

I have wandered round the chavs at Ikea, unless you want something white or pine with an open front, there ain't got ought.  Yes, I was even that desperate to look at their overpriced, poorly made tat!

Get some screw in heavy duty feet for the desk and raise it an inch or two.  That'll give you the clearance you need for most drawers.

The desk has adjustable feet, so I did think about that, but she doesn't want it raised as apparently its the perfect height already.

First is not under desk, its desk high (ie, it acts as an extension to a desk, adding more worktop space), second is way too low at 530mm.

It really is proving a challenge for something so simple :(

How about taking the casters off to drop it a few mm's so it'll slot under the desk.  ;)  Unless it needs to be mobile as well.  :-\  ::)

Looked into that at the bricks&mortar shops where I could measure. The castors don't give that 45-50mm drop
