Does anyone know offhand the size of the dowty washers?

Parts and seals for this GM V6 model are getting more scarce these days  :-[

Don't have the sizes but IIRC they are not any standard size. I remember once trying to source them from a hydraulic shop but they could not find exact match.

I've had the same as James, whine/noise from bearing but no play. Reason seemed to be water had got inside the bearing and corroded races. Very bad looking but no play whatsoever.

And, just to remind: use ONLY well-known brands, as SKF. Cheapo ones do not tighten properly and after this kind of a extreme operation you certainly do not want to do it all over again just for a bad bearing.

How rare is the brown interior in UK? I mean the one with brown dash/plastics, brown steering wheel etc? Not the most common one in any case, Opel or Vauxhall. Was it available with any paint colour or just for certain ones?

I have just found a blue car MY2000 with brown interior and have some plans... which leads to another question: how to tell the missus /SWMBO that I really need an Omega again...   :D

Gearbox breather pipe. Common 'find' -  often gets thought of as a vac pipe that's come adrift... and often a disconnected vac pipe gets mistaken for the gearbox breather pipe  :y

Failing crank sensor symptoms, if you have the P0335, replace it

When crank sensor is just "about to fail  completely" it doesn't always store the code. Been there twice. But for sure this is a faulty crank sensor and it always pays to read the codes, esp. on DBW car where you can read codes easily even daily.

Yes looked at pedal trick but showing crank sensor that I have been told is almost a "stanbdard response" and does not really explain the temp issues. 
I was wondering about MAF / Throttle sensor

Doing the pedal trick on a DBW V6 should not give ANY codes if the car is in conditions so you do have at least a faulty crank sensor. Which also fits to description of fault. It will first play up like you wrote especially when warm and then all of a sudden the car won't start at all. Misfire is another fault, not affected by crank sensor.

I would never ever admit I have been speeding but I do know that Y26SE Oemga auto will throw fourth speed in at 200 km/h.

Daylights are much better now than before, that old ugly "pee" yellow colour was so bad that didn,t show actually nothing.




So, ESP you do have indeed. But no heated windscreen. That windscreen- button is only for the "standard" setup defrosting by air as in every car since somewhere in the sixties. Nor is there any button for heated steering wheel.

Quite an enhancement in lights with nightbreakers installed.

Let me correct you. The last Opel Omegas are with facroty tinded backlights,not Irmscher.There is a Front heated
window,even heated steering wheel on the Design Editions. DTI Versions have ESP and most of them even have LSD.   :y :y

I stand corrected then. But I would love to see some evidence on the factory fit heated windscreen and steering wheel. Neither are known by EPC nor TIS mentions anything. The blueish screen on some Omegas is just sun reflective, not heated. And the steering wheel heated...well, I will be waiting for the confirmation. Spec sheet, TIS or EPC screenshot, pics from the original wiring on car what ever will do  :y Still, if OP's car was an estate I would love to have it  :D :y

ESP was only fitted to the very last 2,6/3,2 V6 engined cars. Does your car have a button with "skidding car" or just "TC"?

Tinted taillights, not from factory but possibly by Irmscher?

Front window heater, never ever has been an option to any Omega. Not even in any GM -built car in that era.

Anyway, very lovely car you have, loaded with all the possible extras and very low mileage for a diesel :y

Why not use CRC Bräkleen? Product, which is especially made for this use?
Petrol or cellulose is cheaper per litre than brake cleaner.

But, having an Omega as a hobby or a daily driver is also not too cheap so we all must have the money  :D ;D (no, not me, I donät have an Omega anymore)

If you have access to an oil sucker or syringe, remove as much as you can,or remove cover plate and drain, and refill with a synthetic oil.

Or, remove the lowest cover plate bolt and drill this hole a little deeper (with a 5 or 6mm drill) and voila, you'll have a drain plug! A lot less hassle than opening the whole back plate and compared to syringe- method this way you will also get the (most of it at least) dirt out from the diff.

When putting the bolt back in you may wish to put some sealant on the thread.
