H1....mains
H7....dipped
Go for "Osram Nightbreakers". Easy enough to replace (even easier with headlamps out). Careful though.....if you`re adjusters are on the verge of breaking.....they will

Cheers Rob, yeah have heard there very good :y
Fitted some in mine but gonna fit HIDs now. :)
Pity the bloody adjusters ain`t ;D ;D

Remember you are going to need washer then with HIDS  :y

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: 3 button fob, no chip?

why is there no chip in the three button fob that opens my facelift miggy? is this normal ?
Does the key start the car? The fob will work (open the car) without the key blade/chip, but you can't start the car without the chip.. normally.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Replacement Stereo

BOSE amplifier is not compatable with aftermarket head units, and teh BOSE speakers are 2 Ohms, so they will also need to be changed if going aftermarket.
just a question - what is the actual issue - only I happened to be passing an ICE dealer I have used for years for bits and pieces and the techy bloke said there is no issue with the right head unit.. Obviously I was "Er are you sure" but wondered what the issue is as Stereo man says there isn't, but its well documented on there that there is.. ?

something is amiss, way beyond the stereo by the sounds.. !

Kenwood 3024 - nothing special but did me.

Its def the stereo and with the stereo in the MIG flashes like an indicator lamp as does 2 lights on the stereo which doesn't work.

Stuck an old JVC in and everything is ok again :(

Thinking about it I haven't checked the rest of the cars electrics but I imagine they are ok.

Its the SRC and Q/AUD buttons that are flashing.
I'd be suspicious of the stero wiring / earths and pos'tivs all good - as the paperclip test if done correctly cannot interfere with the stereo (as proved - your stereo still works - albeit another one)

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: battery problem
« on: 11 August 2010, 13:34:43 »
Sounds like its being drained by something permanent live?
You can check the voltage at the battery for charging / non charging easily enough with a volt meter (or get your mechanic to)
Not leaving something on that has a permanent live connection ? any after market accessories?

I've got a single din Alpine 9854R, very impressed. Looks ok not too chav-me, 3.5mm input with tray handy for iPod/iPhone.

It also makes the standard speakers sound much, much better!

I was considering doing similar but understand with Bose.. I can't. (you don't have Bose I take it.. )

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Window Close sensor
« on: 15 July 2010, 23:40:49 »
Hiya
I obviously have a window closing sensor issue - rear nearside window goes up.. and when about 4 inches from the top, goes down again when you are holding the button
makes it a pain to close, possible only by flicking the switch up to close it cm by cm! - are these easy to repair? anyone got any advice?

Double bugger. Oh well saved me wasting a couple hundred on a unit I was about to buy, but made it more expensive to change anything. Think I will be leaving it all be then :-(

Just read this, and wanted to change my head unit on my elite to something with Blutooth etc etc..
but being new, and don't shoot me - are we saying that as I have Bose (cos its written on the rear shelf speakers) I cannot add any other head unit, and would need to change everything?
bugger.

live and learn. I have the opposite issue.. boot button works fine, remote fob button doesn't do anything - but then I think thats the button on the remote fubar'd. Painful when returning to the car with shopping to have to open car etc etc so looking to sort that

The switch inside the car to open the boot (saloon) does not work. It opens O.K. with key fob and the switch even illuminates when it is open. Is this just a faulty switch or could there be some other reason.
Have you tried holding switch in for 5 seconds. Instantaneous press will not release the boot

Mine works almost instantly.. should it not!?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Headlamp recon

Is the mirror the problem or the plastic/glass on the outside, cause I did mine (outer plastic) the other day, I can make a how to with pics in the next couple of days if you want to.

I'd love that mate. The 'big eyeball' and the mirror part all look in good condition. the issue is the Glass has become scratched and seems cloudy. I think if I Can get it apart I might be able to improve things. Did this once on an MGF (!) - very light sanding inside and then a good polish up made a remarkable difference. If you can do a how to about what you did please do PM or EMail me. Thanks

Wise words thanks. Might take them apart when I am next feeling brave and see what  I can do with enhancing the lens
